Job Purpose:
1. Support Defence Primary HealthCare (DPHC) in delivery of a safe and effective primary
healthcare service within the firm base at the regional level in order to enhance and sustain the
operational effectiveness.

2. To provide a high standard of physiotherapy and rehabilitation service to service recruits,


permanent staff and entitled personnel including specialist work in the musculoskeletal /sports training
injuries. Act as a clinical physiotherapist for musculoskeletal injuries and contribute to training other staff in
specialist areas.
Main Job Objectives Percent
1. The Band 6 Physiotherapist is clinically and administratively accountable to the
CMP/LM based in the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) Chatham.

2. Assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of recruits and permanent staff


with musculoskeletal conditions presenting at PCRF Chatham.

3. Provision of gym based rehabilitation activities including design and supervision of


individual rehabilitation programmes from initial presentation to return to high level functional
activities.

4. Supervision of functional testing in support of Initial Medical Assessment process and


routine grading reviews.

5. Liaison with Training Teams in support of patient management decisions.

6. Responsible for timely collection of data in support of service evaluation.

7. Responsible for the timely completion and recording of all mandatory training courses
and any others as directed by LS RHQ.

8. Responsible for application and implementation of Equipment Care Policy within the
department e.g. completion of 373’s and fault reporting/recording through appropriate
channels.

9. Provision of mentorship and teaching to ERI’s, students, Drs, Nurses and Medics.
10. Supporting the induction process for new staff and locums.

11. Assisting in the provision of appropriate stock levels of consumables by providing


feedback where appropriate.

12. Complete compliance with appraisal process.

13. The preparation of suitable hand-over reports prior to periods of absence.

14. Participation in the clinical mentorship programme as per DDR policy.


15. Total compliance with CSP standards of practice including all aspects of healthcare
governance. In particular:
a. Personal commitment to ongoing continuing professional development through
internal and external courses, presentation and organisation of internal in-service
training sessions, peer reviews and maintenance of Professional Portfolio

b. Submission of appropriate SERs.

c. Compliance with Infection Prevention & Control (IP&C) and Health & Safety
procedures

d. Documentation and continual review of physiotherapy and rehabilitation related


working procedures.

16. The development and maintenance of professional standards to the highest


attainable levels

17. Carry out other professional duties within the unit as required e.g. attendance and
participation at Unit Health Committee meetings.

MANAGERIAL

18. Participate in developing protocols to enhance the clinical development and efficacy
of clinics and participate in clinical meetings.

19. Participate in quality improvement and clinical audit programmes. Carry out clinical
audit by selecting purposeful and systematic audits for the benefit of the department. This is
to include process audits and key performance indicators where appropriate.
