INTRODUCTION
Good Afternoon, Ladies and Gentlemen. May I have your attention please. We are about
to begin Jelaveil’s 18th Birthday Party, so please find your seat and make yourselves
comfortable.

A pleasant afternoon to each and everyone. Welcome to the much-anticipated and most
prestigious party of our charming debutant who is now turning into a fine lady. This is quite a
very important event in her life and she is very much honoured for your presence. Like Wendy in
the movie Peter Pan, no more fairy tale stories every night. She is now a real lady as she stepped
onto the much higher level of what we call LIFE.
We are gathered here this afternoon to witness the transformation of a young girl to a
beautiful lady. We are very lucky for we are chosen to be here and be part of this momentous
occasion in the debutant's life. You see her grow up. You see her smile. You see her laugh. You
see her everything. And now, you are about to see her as a grown up lady. A lady with a good
heart, character and ambition. Let us all celebrate as our girl becomes a full-bloomed lady, as she
turns 18.
Ladies and gentlemen, sit back as we groove, jive and enjoy her party this afternoon.

II. A. ENTRANCE OF THE DEBUTANT / OFFERING OF BOUQUET BY THE

FATHER OF THE DEBUTANT
In a land not so far away, there was once a little girl with a beauty of an angel. Born
under the sign of Aries, this girl is the eldest among the three children of Mr. Jacob Cunanan,
and Mrs. Laila Cunanan. Her dad is a gym instructor at Qatar and one of the coaches at Paycheck
Company while her mom is a distributor at Jc Premier and Telepreneur Corporation.
Her supportive siblings are, Jovail Hance, a Grade 10 student at Signal Village National
High School Taguig City, and John Benedict, a Grade 5 student at Santo Tomas Catholic School.
She grew up with so much love and kindness. She is loved by everybody for her beauty inside
and out. Her voice is an angel. Her smile bears no limit. Her heart is unafraid. Her mind is ready
to try. She's ready for any adventure for the sake of fun and friendship. More refined than shy,
more adventurous than playful, more charismatic than charming, more alluring than beautiful.
Indeed, she has all grown up and what a sight she has become.
And now.... guests, friends, ladies and gentlemen, let us all stand as we welcome our
dazzling lady of this afternoon, MS. JELAVEIL DE VERA CUNANAN . Let us give her a big
round of applause.
B. OFFERING OF BOUQUET
At this juncture, the father of the debutant will be offering a bouquet to her daughter.
III. RANDOM INTERVIEW
Who is Jelaveil in the real sense of word? Of course aside from being
kind and responsible daughter, friend or classmate maybe, there are things that some people
know but not known to others. So, let’s find out as we randomly ask some quirky, trivial and
even personal questions to some of our important guests here.

IV. OPENING PRAYER

To spiritually open the program, may I ask everybody to please stand for the Lord’s
Moment for our guidance and blessings to be led by Ms. Patricia Vidal.

V. WELCOME MESSAGE
Before we proceed to the main part of the occasion, let us first give this moment to the
people who made all these a success: from the planning to the execution, for the foods, and the
details of the party. Without these people, this event would not be possible. May I call in the
proud father of our debutant Mr. Jacob Cunanan, to welcome us all this afternoon and as well to
extend their gratitude for coming.

VI. DANCE NUMBER

At this point, let us be entertained by Thomasiannverse in their electrifying intermission
number. Let us welcome them with a resounding clap.
That’s what you call as talent. Let us once again give them a round of applause for that
wonderful and entertaining intermission number.
VII. 18 ROSES DANCE
Like a flower that blooms and exudes its sweet scents to attract bees and butterflies,
Jelaveil will be surrounded by 18 handsome gentlemen who will represent the debutante’s 18
roses. Roses often symbolize degrees of love and affection, but they can also send a variety of
messages. Messages of forgiveness, purity, modesty, hope, beauty and love. The 18 roses signify
18 very special gentlemen in the life of the debutant, like her friends, relatives, brothers, and of
course we can never forget the father for he is always the last dance.
To begin with, let me call all the gents to gather on the side for the smooth flow of
the program. As your name is called, it is your chance to offer a rose and to dance with the
debutant.
Now, let’s explore the richness of Rose’s meaning and its lush symbolism.

1. BALANCE - to remain upright and steady Byron Stephen Nanalis

2. FAITH – strong belief on something Angel Kian San Nicolas

3. HONOR – high respect Gerard Mangonon

4. DEVOTION – overwhelming affection Patrick Paras

5. TIMELESSNESS – a state of eternal existence Eanuel Joy Aquino

6. WISDOM – quality of being wise Chester Allan Visperas

7. RENEWAL – fresh or make strong again Kyle Jedrick Llena

8. LIGHT – illumination of brightness Bryan Mangonon

The last dance is of course reserved to the most handsome and most loving guy in her life.
Alyssa’s 18th rose, ladies and gentlemen, Dr. Rolando Laderas.

The father and daughter dance is probably one of the most loved traditions in any Filipino
debut celebration. This signifies the daughter’s first step to womanhood and the father’s
acceptance of this period in his daughter’s life.

F. SPECIAL NUMBER
At this point, let us be entertained by the talented students of Mangaldan National High
School, the Teatro Uno in their electrifying intermission number. Let us welcome them with a
resounding clap.
That’s what you call as talent. Let us once again give them a round of applause for that
wonderful and entertaining intermission number.

G. 18 TREASURES
Let us now proceed with the 18 treasures. It doesn’t matter how expensive, how
elegant or how precious the gift is, what matters most is the thought, the value and the essence
that the gift contains. These gifts are significant to the debutant and that she will truly treasure
these for the rest of her life.

security as it may illuminate circumstances. It may also signify 18 significant people to the
debutant’s life who serve as her guide as she grows up. These are also the people who care for

K. BLOWING OF BIRTHDAY CANDLES/ SINGING OF HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONG

Many ancient cultures believed that smoke carried their prayers to heaven. So, at the
count of three, Sophia Karel and members of the 18 Candles, let’s say “May all our wishes come
true” and blow the candles together. 1, 2, and 3… (Everybody blows the candle)
Let me share another trivia to everyone on how birthday cakes and candles came about as
a tradition during birthdays. Some people believe that the tradition of birthday candles began in
Ancient Greece. Putting candles on a cake was a special way to pay tribute to the Greek moon
goddess, Artemis. They baked round cakes to symbolize the moon. Candles were added to
represent the reflected moonlight. Today’s tradition of making wishes before blowing out
the birthday candles may have started with that belief. At this part of the program, our lovely and
stunning debutant will blow the candle on her birthday cake. And to complete that customary
practice, let us all sing joyfully a song I am very sure everybody is familiar with, the happy
birthday song!
Let us give 18 claps for Alyssa. Thank you very much. Alyssa, make a wish first and
blow your candle.
It is now time to slice the cake. As Alyssa reached the age of maturity, she will now slice
the cake and give a portion to her parents as a symbol of her love and gratefulness to them.

L. MESSAGE OF THE DEBUTANT

Tonight's celebration will not be complete without hearing a message from the
debutant herself. To officially confirm the heat and legality of this party, let us now hear the
speech of the debutant, MS. ALYSSA NICOLE I. LADERAS.

M. CLOSING
Thank you Alyssa. It is also our pleasure to be part of this significant celebration of your
life. Tonight is not the end but the beginning of a longer road to walk. We wish you nothing but
the best that life can offer. Happy birthday again! We would like to thank you all for making it
to this wonderful celebration of Alyssa's 18th birthday. For those who are going home, may
God bless you. Be safe everyone. And for those who are staying, the night is young and the
floor is now open for dancing. It is now time to party. This is your host, Sheila Marie Ramos,
signing off. Thank you and have a blessed night.
