determined according to NEMA MG 1, shall not exceed 50 percent.
K. Start Time: Comply with NFPA 110, Type 10, system requirements.
2.5 ENGINE
A. Description: Closed loop, liquid cooled, with radiator factory mounted on engine-
generator-set mounting frame and integral engine-driven coolant pump.
F. Coolant Hose: Flexible assembly with inside surface of nonporous rubber and
outer covering of aging-, ultraviolet-, and abrasion-resistant fabric.
2. End Fittings: Flanges or steel pipe nipples with clamps to suit piping and
equipment connections.
C. Base-Mounted Fuel Oil Tank for Diesel Generator Set Smaller than 200 KW:
Factory installed and piped, complying with UL 142 fuel oil tank. Base-mounted
tank are only allowed for small units (smaller than 200 KW). Features include the
following:
2. Capacity: Fuel for eight hours' continuous operation at 100 percent rated
power output.
D. Condensate Drain for Muffler: Schedule 40, black steel pipe connected to muffler
drain outlet through a petcock.
G. Exhaust Piping External to Engine: ASTM A 53/A 53M, Schedule 40, welded,
black steel, with welded joints and fittings.
A. Description: 24-V electric, with negative ground and including the following items:
3. Indicating and protective devices and controls shall include those required
by NFPA 110 for a Level 1 system, and the following:
4. Indicating and Protective Devices and Controls shall include but not limited
to the following:
j. Start-stop switch.
q. Generator overload.
7. Common Remote Audible Alarm: Comply with NFPA 110 requirements for
Level 1 systems. Include necessary contacts and terminals in control and
monitoring panel.
c. Overspeed shutdown.
11. The generator set shall be provided with a network communication module
to allow LONMARK or (MODBUS) compliant communication with the
generator set control by remote devices. The control shall communicated
all engine and alternator data, and allow starting and stopping of the
generator set via the network in both test and emergency modes.
3. Shunt Trip: Connected to trip breaker when generator set is shut down by
other protective devices.
B. Drive: Generator shaft shall be directly connected to engine shaft. Exciter shall
be rotated integrally with generator rotor.
F. Excitation shall use no slip or collector rings, or brushes, and shall be arranged to
sustain generator output under short-circuit conditions as specified.
K. Windings: Two-thirds pitch stator winding and fully linked amortisseur winding.
2.14 FINISHES
A. Prototype Testing: Factory test engine-generator set using same engine model,
constructed of identical or equivalent components and equipped with identical or
equivalent accessories.
3. Components and Accessories: Items furnished with installed unit that are
not identical to those on tested prototype shall have been factory tested to
demonstrate compatibility and reliability.
2. Maximum power.

6. Safety shutdown.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine areas, equipment bases, and conditions, with Installer present, for
compliance with requirements for installation and other conditions affecting
packaged engine-generator performance.
C. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
3.3 INSTALLATION

mm.
c. NPS 2 (DN 50) and Larger: Maximum span, 3 m; minimum rod size,
10 mm.
1. Install condensate drain piping for engine exhaust system. Extend drain
piping from low points of exhaust system and from muffler to condensate
traps and to point of disposition.
2. Support exhaust piping and muffler with pipe hangers spaced a maximum
of 6 m horizontally and at each floor vertically. Pipe hangers are specified
in Division 15 Section "Hangers and Supports."
3.4 CONNECTIONS
3.5 IDENTIFICATION
B. Perform the following field tests and inspections and prepare test reports:
1. Perform each electrical test and visual and mechanical inspection stated in
NETA ATS, Sections 7.15.2.1 and 7.22.1 (except for vibration baseline
test). Certify compliance with test parameters.
3. NFPA 110 Acceptance Tests: Perform tests required by NFPA 110 that
are additional to those specified here including, but not limited to, the
following:
11. Noise Level Tests: Measure A-weighted level of noise emanating from
