BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The Philippines is known to be abundant in natural resources that can be found in the
surroundings. Some of these are crops, trees, plants etc. The resources that are naturally gifted to
the nation can produce goods that can be introduced to acceptable goods of the country, which
can be an economic livelihood, and a source of income.

The country is also known for its delicious food. Among these foods is what we call
“kakanins”, native delicacies that are served as desserts. Each region develops their own
delicacies throughout their history. No party or celebration is complete without these Filipino
desserts. Kakanin or Native Delicacies are integral part of the Filipino food culture. These are
sweet munchies or sometimes desserts made from rice, sweet rice or root vegetables that are
slow cooked and usually made with coconut or coconut milk. These ingredients are abundant in
the country and since its cost are low; anybody can make a dessert for any occasion. Filipino
cuisines are unique and original which suits the taste and sweet tooth of Filipinos. They can be
very sweet and they are always favorites for the young and old alike. A lot of them show the
Spanish influence in the country.

Pozorrubio is among the liveliest places in the province of Pangasinan in terms of


economic activity. Patupat is one of the famous special delicacies when it comes to pasalubong
centre. Kakanin are usually present on special occasions such as weddings, birthdays,
anniversaries, and fiesta. No celebration is complete without these kakanin being served in the
table. They are especially popular during the Holiday Season and since Christmas and New Year
is just around the bend,. Many Filipinos in our generation and certainly in other countries loves
sticky rice to be there dessert after a meal or pasalubong to their friends, families and etc. This
delicacy is all over the world exported or imported. Patupat is cooked by manual process in
todays present because they want to continue the legacy of the past generation on how it was
cooked. Indeed, it should be seen as a job opportunity for many people. , having a famous sticky
rice cake which will be needed of the town which promote the economic and market
development to sustain adequate incomes which has stability, competitiveness, growth and
transformation in the economic sector.

History
"Pozo rubbio" (ruby-like waters from the "poso" or artesian well of the town) is the origin of the
town's name.Fr. Domingo Naval, Vicar of San Jacinto, Pangasinan Vicar, founded on "Pozo
rubbio" March 12, 1834. Pozorrubio is a landlocked municipality in the coastal province
of Pangasinan. The municipality has a land area of 134.60 square kilometers or 51.97 square
miles which constitutes 2.47% of Pangasinan's total area. Its population as determined by the
2015 Census was 69,555. This represented 2.35% of the total population of Pangasinan province,

or 1.38% of the overall population of the Ilocos Region. Based on these figures, the population
density is computed at 517 inhabitants per square kilometre or 1,338 inhabitants per square mile.

PROBLEM OF THE STUDY

To plan and design a Patupat Rice Cake Production and Trade Centre that is convenient, reliable,
clean, and modern environmental friendly industry that will promote and develop the growth of
economic sector.

Statement of the Problem:

The study will focus on planning, designing and developing a Patupat Rice Cake
Production and Trade Centre to help improve the economy, livelihood and tourist. In order for
the project to be clearly defined, the study will aim to answer the following problems:

1. What are the facilities needed in a Production and Trade Centre that can accommodate
the people/workers to help improve the economy in Pozorrubio and also to attract more
local and foreign tourist?
2. What are the architectural techniques, concepts and principles that will be applied in the
planning, designing for the development of Production and Trade Centre for Patupat Rice
Cake?
3. What are the applicable materials in construction of the structures that will incorporate
resiliency and tropically responsive design?
4. What innovation in architecture should be applied to the proposal?

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

The objectives of the study are as follows:

 To identify the facilities needed in a Patupat Rice Cake Production and Trade Centre.
 To plan and design a production and trade centre that continues the tradition on making
patupat rice cake.
 To provide and open some opportunities to some people who seeks for job.
 To create suitable ground for workers.
 To plan and design a functional, clean and safe Production and Trade Centre for patupat
rice cake.

RELATED STUDY

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The significance of the study varies from different related aspects. The study will focus in
production system as a modern and environmental friendly industry that will strengthened the
lifestyle, culture and to increase the economic growth in Pozorrubio, Pangasinan. A new
development of Production and Trade Centre will support and showcase more of the lifestyle,
crops, economic livelihood resources, cultures traditional life ways, peace process etc.

Furthermore, new develop industry will serve a way to help and offers basic services
which gives opportunities to the people of Pozorrubio, and also a convenient access of some
places giving them a modernized and environmental friendly facility to work, interact and
socialize. In addition, the researcher aims to propose a facility that will improve the economic
standing of the people of Pozorrubio, Pangasinan. Conclusively, the proposed project will benefit
the workers, people and the tourist in the Philippines that is of global standard when it comes to
some goods.

SCOPE, LIMITATIONS, DELIMITATIONS

The scope of this research shall be restricted to space planning and management in the design of
Patupat Rice Cake Production and Trade Centre.

 The scope of work is based on the population that intended to serve. Pozorrubio,
Pangasinan is the location of the site.
 The project will be limited only to plan and design of the Proposed Patupat Rice Cake
Production and Trade Centre in Pozorrubio, Pangasinan.
 The site factors and the information’s about the architectural techniques
