Course Description:
This 3-unit course provides students with a broad coverage of the conceptual and empirical foundations of psychology in its
main fields. The discussion of the theories, concepts, and empirical findings focuses on complex human behavior—how and
why we think, feel, and behave the way we do, how we act and interact with others, and why and how we become the
unique individuals that we are.
Classroom Policies:
1. Come to class prepared.
2. Come to class on time. Tardy students will be refused entry once 15 minutes have elapsed from the start of the period.
3. If you go beyond the allotted number of excused or unexcused absences for this course, you will get a grade of AF.
4. Follow the class seat plan at all times unless instructed otherwise.
5. Use only research-based materials in reports, recitations, and other academic engagements. Wikipedia, blogs, social
networking websites, and other related sources of information are not empirical, peer-reviewed sources.
6. Late submission of requirements will merit 5 point deductions per 24 hours. Plagiarized work will not merit any points.
7. If you miss a major exam/output for valid reasons, inform your instructor within 1 week after your absence and present
her with an official document explaining your absence. Appeals made beyond the 1-week grace period will not be
entertained.
8. Secure your stamped exam permit ahead of major exams and/or the submission of major requirements.
9. Honesty in all aspects is demanded of you. Thus, all forms of academic dishonesty are serious offenses, and are subject
to maximum disciplinary action. Offenses include, but are not limited to: cheating during quizzes or exams; copying the
work of another person and submitting it as your own without proper citation; doing the work of a classmate; forging
documents; lying to school personnel. Sanctions for acts of academic dishonesty may include failure in the course,
suspension, or expulsion.
10. Observe proper classroom decorum. Turn off phones, tablets, and other electronic devices or put them in silent mode
during class. Do not use electronic devices in class unless instructed otherwise, or when an emergency arises.
11. Class-related concerns may be raised during class or scheduled consultations with your instructor. Concerns may also
be raised via the class social media accounts, but please contact your instructor only during business hours.
