PREFACE
CNS Officials are required to be aware of the Contingency plan to deal with cyclone/ natural
calamity setup, be able to timely intervene and take appropriate remedial/corrective actions in
case of exigency, be aware of the affected internal/external stakeholders/agencies, be able to
coordinate the steps taken/to be taken to deal with operational exigencies.
The officials must be able to identify instructions are laid down to be followed in case of cyclone
at BPI Airport:-

Chapter 1
1 Title:
1.1 This document is identified as Standard Operating Procedure for Contingency plan to deal with
cyclone/ natural calamity.
2. Purpose:
1.2 2.1Purpose of this document is to establish procedures and to provide information and
instructions pertaining to Contingency plan to deal with cyclone/ natural calamity set up.
. It is published for use and guidance of CNS Maintenance and operational personnel.
1.3 2.2 The Jt. GM (CNS) BPIA will ensure that the processes, procedures and instructions contained in
this SOP for Contingency plan to deal with cyclone/ natural calamity are strictly complied with by all
concerned.
3.1 The CNS In charge, is responsible for development, review and amendments of SOP.
3.2 The Jt. General Manager [CNS] BPIA is responsible for the approval of SOP.
4. Effective Date:
4.2 New Version will be indicated by the same date at the foot of the page.
5. Change History:
5.1 This is Version 1.0 of the SOP. Changes are indicated on ‘Record of Amendments page’.
5.2 Amendments – documentation being inserted in the manual must contain headers and footers that
are consistent with those given in this document.
A hard copy of the SOP will be made available to all the Unit In-Charges of at BPIA.

CHAPTER 2
CONTEGENCY PLAN TO DEAL WITH CYCLONE AT BPI AIRPORT, BHUBANESWAR.
The following instructions are laid down to be followed by various CNS Officers in case of
cyclone at BPI Airport:-
On receipt of the notice/intimation regarding the contingency, the following offices will be
kept informed promptly:-
i) Airport Director
ii) GM (CNS-ER)
Stay inside and shelter {well clear of windows) in the strongest part of the building.
Keep evacuation and emergency kits with you.
Beware the calm 'eye'. If the wind drops, don't assume the cyclone is over; violent winds
will soon resume from another direction. Wait for the official 'all clear'.
