SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN

Subject: English Date: December 12, 2018


Sections: Azucena and Begonia Time: 8am-9am and 9:15am-10:15am

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, students shall have:


a. distinguished the function of active voice and passive voice;
b. converted the active voice and passive voice sentences; and
c. instilled the good values of the students using active and passive voice.

IV. PROCEDURE

1. Activity: Jigsaw Puzzle


- The student will be grouped into 4 groups.
- Each group will solve the puzzle, then the group will arrange the jumble words to
create a sentence pertaining to the puzzle and post it on the board.

Group 1: Melvin throws his garbage at the trashcan.

trashcan / Melvin / throws / at / his / garbage / the

Group 2: Mario is bullying the boy.

Mario/ is bullying / the / boy


Group 3: Marco is cheating to Jenny.

to / cheating / marco / is / jenny

Group 4: The students are cleaning the classroom.

2. Analysis
The teacher will ask the following questions:

a. What have you observed in the sentence?


b. Who executes the action?
c. Teacher will transform the sentence. What happen to the actor?
d. What do you call a type of voice where the actor is performing the action?
e. What do you call a type of voice where the actor is recipient of the action?

3. Abstraction

Voice – is a form of the verb takes to indicate whether the subject of the verb performs
or receives the actions.

Active Voice – is used to show that the subject of the sentence is performing the action.
Passive Voice – is used when the subjects is the recipient of the action.

ACTIVE PASSIVE

SIMPLE PRESENT – for actions that happens regularly.

base form or “+s or +es” am/is/are + past participle

Marco cheats to Jenny Jenny is cheated by Marco.

ACTIVE PASSIVE

SIMPLE PAST – for actions that started in the past and finished in the past

base + ed + or irregular form was/were + ed/en

Paulo greeted his teacher. The teacher was greeted by Paulo.

ACTIVE PASSIVE

PRESENT PERFECT – actions that happened in the past and still relevant to the present or continues to
the present.
have/has + ed/en has/have + been + ed/en

Arlou has decorated the classroom. The classroom has been decorated by Arlou.

PRESENT CONTINIOUS – describe an ongoing activity or a temporary action.

am/is/are + ing am/is/are + being + ed/en

Students are cleaning the classroom. The classroom is being cleaned by the student.

USING MODAL “would”

Cleaners should clean the classroom. he classroom should be cleaned by the cleaners.

Integration

1. Who can create a sample sentence using active voice? It should contain the good values of
the students inside the classroom.
2. Is anyone here who can transpose this sentence into passive voice?
3. When the active voice and passive voice is being used?
4. Try to observe the sentences, which of the sentences that tell/s about good values?
5. Can you point it out?
6. Why is it important to clean the classroom every day?
7. Why we should throw our garbage properly? Did you throw your garbage properly?
8. Are we required to clean our classroom?
9. Why do we need to respect our teachers as well as our classmates?

Instruction: Students will be group according to their Gender.

Male – portray a 1 good value that apply as a good model of being a student.
Female – in 1 whole sheet of paper, write 10 examples using active voice and transform
it into passive voice that contain good values of the student inside the classroom.

Active Voice – the actor performs the action. Passive Voice – the actor receives the action.
Example: Kate ate the ice cream. Example: The ice cream was eaten by Kate.
- Kate is the actor who ate the ice cream
- Kate is the actor who performs the action. (auxiliary verb + past participle)
I. Direction: Kindly write  if the sentence is Active Voice and  for
Inactive Voice before the number and underline the verb.

VI. ASSIGNMENT

In your English notebook, write 10 active voice and transform it into passive that contains our
societal issue.
