burden easily, so everyone must join hands to address the plight of
underprivileged children.

AWAITING FOR HELP

Mamidi Hari Prasad is from Boruchadra village in Santabommali Mandal, Srikakulam District. He is 16 years of age and lost his father at the age
of 4 years. His father Late Rajulu died of a road accident and his mother, Mamidi Aadamma is a house wife from a poor family and is weak and frail.
After the father’s death the mother worked in different places to earn their living and many days they are left hungry. They do not have industries or
farming or daily labour works to give them employment in the place they live because it is a backward tribal area so she used to go for 100 days
employment through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS). Hari Prasad stays in a small shed i n their
village with his mother. His Elder Sister is married and stays in Palasa, a small town in Srikakulam District. When Hari Prasad was 8 years he was
put in a electrical shop in Hyderabad for work, and he used to send some money to his mother too. Hari Prasad studied while working and passed
10th standard and last year when he came for a festival to his village he found out that he is having claw hand, foot drop and Lagophthalmos. He then
visited Srikakulam government hospital for checkups and came to know that he has leprosy and immediately the doctors put him on MDT
medication. He was in great depression due to shattered dreams and was angry that he was cursed by God. He did not have strength to lift heavy
things or do any kind of electrical work and got blisters and ulcers due to the heavy work when he joined back. Hari was removed out of work and
went back to his village for taking treatment. He doesn’t want to continue his studies as he is afraid that he will be ill-treated by the community.
This made the poor mother worry and she wept about his career. Philadelphia Community Hospital, Salur, came to know about Hari Prasad and the
Counsellor and Community Health Manager of the hospital travelled about 275 kilometres to his place and counselled him and his mother. They
explained about the disease and this brought them back the hope to live. They said that he will become normal after the five surgeries required are
done. They also promised to refer him to The Leprosy Mission Training centre in Vizianagaram to be able to stand on his own feet working as a
bread winner of the family.

WORD OF THE MONTH

Joshua 1:7-9 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the Law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left,
that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of Law depart from your mouth. Meditate on it day and night, so that you may be
careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you. There are two kinds of success in life. First success is that fulfils God’s will in
your life. Second success is when you go alone and make yourself a famous name and immense amount of money. When you put God first, then the
plan will carry on and, it will not only be successful, it gives you immense satisfaction. Real success is putting God in first place and allowing God
to do everything for you. Besides whatever project you are doing putting God in the front runs for ever. In comparison the project you do for your own
sake and for your name runs short of fuel soon. Would you like that sort of success? Think about it!
