To Whom It May Concern:

It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Carrie Schultz.

I have known Carrie for just a short time as I was assigned to be her supervising teacher for her
student teaching placement. I met Carrie in the spring of 2017 when she made some preliminary
visits to plan for her fall semester teaching biology to sophomores at Fremont Public Schools. From
our first visit it was obvious that Carrie is organized and preplanned and wants to give a good
account of herself in everything she does.

Carrie fulfilled all of the requirements of student teaching in an effort to immerse herself in
understanding all that the teaching profession is. She attended staff meetings, and team building
activities at the start of the year, she engaged in curriculum development, she planned meticulous
lessons for her students complete with differentiated focus. Carrie attended student events, she came
early to tutor and stayed late to meet other academic needs of students. She utilized technology and
current events to promote student learning and managed her classes with a very high level of student
engagement throughout each lesson and every period. She developed laboratory activities and
written tests that she carefully analyzed to guide her student assessment awareness. Carrie is
exceptionally organized, task oriented and always prepared. However, the most significant quality
that Carrie brings to the profession are not those listed above, but rather a genuineness in demeanor
that draws students to her and makes them want to stay. In a very short time Carrie developed an
amazing rapport with the students she taught.

As a classroom teacher of 25 years I know that the greatest strategy to student learning and
achievement is not how well one can write a summative assessment, but rather how well one cares
for and communicates that care to students. Carrie learned 126 student names in two days and built
on that foundation for the remainder of her student teaching experience. If you asked the students
whether you should hire Ms. Schultz they would give you a resounding yes and would stand in line
to tell you why.

I give Carrie Schultz my highest recommendation. Carrie will be a tremendous asset to whatever
