Set Free From Bondage to Sin.

And Other Topics

By Nathan Quirit

John.8.30 - As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.

John.8.31 - Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My
word, you are My disciples indeed.
John.8.32 - And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
John.8.33 - They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been
in bondage to anyone. How can You say, "You will be made free'?"
John.8.34 - Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin
is a slave of sin.
John.8.36 - Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

At the cross, Jesus said: It is finished.

FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE He has made full provision for the fulfillment of Daniel's
prophecy...
NIV Dan.9.24 - "...
To finish the transgression,
To make an end of sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,
To bring in everlasting righteousness...
WHAT IS JESUS SAYING?
TRUE DISCIPLESHIP IS ABIDING IN HIS WORD.

In The Great Commission Command Jesus says:

Matt.28.19 - Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Matt.28.20 - teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo,
I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

In verse 19 One IMPLICATION here is:

Baptize them into the Father's WILL (My brother, my sister, my mother are those who
do my Father's will).

Baptized into Christ Jesus, crucified with Christ, baptized into His death, buried
with Him. Raised from death to life with Him.

Having been purchased from death by His blood, they are no longer their own,

but now are called into Sanctification, saparated unto Him, called unto His
glorious purposes that number more than the sand.

A divine adventure awaits each disciple, a forever walk with the King, the LORD,
the creator of all created things. And each adventure promises to be uniquely
planned exclusively for each individual. A unique Enoch walk for each of us.

Jesus to Peter: If I will that he, John, remains till I come what is that to you?
YOU FOLLOW ME!

Baptized into the Love of the Truth, the WORDS and COMMANDS of Jesus. (Those who
keep my commandments are those who love Me.)

Baptize them with the Holy Spirit. Teach them how to seek the Leading of the Holy
Spirit. He will lead you into all Truth. (Sons of God are those who are lead by the
Holy Spirit.)

Verse 20 SAYS VERY CLEARLY AND VERY LOUDLY:

TEACH THOSE WHO BELIEVE...

HOW TO OBSERVE, PRACTICE, LIVE OUT IN LIFE

ALL THINGS WHATSOEVER I HAVE COMMANDED YOU.

Whose disciple are we?

If we follow the teachings of false prophets, we are disciples of these false

prophets.

Whose teachings are we following?

Jesus says: Why do you call me Lord and not do what I say? My words are life and
spirit.

In John 17: Father, the words You gave me I have given them, and they received Your
words.

Accountable For Every Word HE Speaks

(All scriptures are from the NKJV, unless otherwise indicated.)

and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command
Him.

in My name, I will require it of him.

for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things,
whatever He says to you.

Acts.3.23 - And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be
utterly destroyed from among the people.'

NLT John.12.46 - I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all
who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the darkness.

NIV John.12.48 - There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my
words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day.

NIV Isa.5.21 - Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own
sight.

John.12.49 - For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me
gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.

John.12.50 - And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I
speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak."

John.15.3 - You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

John.13.10 - Jesus said... you are clean, but not all of you."
2Thess.2.10 - and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because
they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2Thess.2.11 - And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they
should believe the lie,

2Thess.2.12 - that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had
pleasure in unrighteousness.

Do All Believers Receive The Holy Spirit Automatically?

It is generally believed that when a person converts to Christ by way of the

sinner's prayer he/she automatically receives the Holy Spirit.

BUT WHAT DO THE SCRIPTURES SAY?

Philip the evangelist preached the gospel with signs and miracles in Samaria.

Acts.8.14 - Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had
received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,

Acts.8.15 - who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive
the Holy Spirit.

Acts.8.16 - For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized
in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Acts.8.17 - Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

Acts.19.1 -... Paul ... came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples

Acts.19.2 - he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?"

Acts.19.6 - And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them,
and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

Let's examine Paul's question:

NKJV: "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?"

KJV: Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?

BUT WHY DID PAUL ASK THE QUESTION IN THE FIRST PLACE, IF BELIEVERS AUTOMATICALLY
RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT? PAUL WAS AN APOSTLE. HE ASKED THE QUESTION BECAUSE HE KNEW
IT'S NOT AUTOMATIC.

The actions of these three Apostles - Peter, John and Paul - testify loud and clear
that the Holy Spirit is not received by believers automatically when they accept
Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Finally, Jesus himself said:

Luke.11.13 - If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"

Here Jesus is saying we need to ask in order to receive the Holy Spirit. There is
no need to ask if it is automatic.

THE HOLY SPIRIT and KNOWING TRUTH

Let us first see what the LORD Jesus The Messiah has to say about finding truth.

Without the Holy Spirit, there is a limit to how much Truth we can see or know.

John.14.26 - But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name,
He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said
to you.

John.16.12 - "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

AMP John.16.12 - I have still many things to say to you, but you are not able to
bear them or to take them upon you or to grasp them now.

MSG John.16.12 - I have still many things to say to you, but you are not able to
bear them or to take them upon you or to grasp them now.

John.16.13 - However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you
into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears
He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Who Are Disciples?

John.8.30 - As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.

John.8.31 - Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My
word, you are My disciples indeed."

Matt.28.20 - teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo,
I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

John.14.15 - "If you love Me, keep My commandments.

John.14.21 - He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And
he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself
to him."

John.14.23 - Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My
word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with
him.

John.14.24 - He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you
hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.

The above verses show us clearly that disciples are those who continue and abide in
Christ's words and commandments. It is the job of disciplers to TEACH ALL OF
CHRIST'S WORDS AND COMMANDMENTS - HOW TO OBSERVE THEM.

The following verses show us who are qualified to make disciples.

Matt.7.24 - "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will
liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

Matt.7.25 - and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on
that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
Can one who cannot play the violin teach how to play the violin? Can one who cannot
sing teach how to sing? Can one who does not follow Jesus teach how to follow
Jesus? CAN ONE TEACH WHAT HE CANNOT DO?

Discipleship, Where Do We Begin?

Jesus spoke many words, gave many commands. Where then do we begin?

Jesus gives us some hints.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Father, referring to the Holy Spirit. Wait
until...

The Book of Acts also gives similar hints.

The Book of Acts begins with the first disciples obeying the command of DLORD Jesus
to wait for the Holy Spirit outpouring.

When the Apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received God's word, they
sent Peter and John to pray for them to receive the Holy Spirit. Acts 8.

When the Apostle Paul found some disciples in Ephesus, he asked them if they
received the Holy Spirit since they believed. Since they had not, he prayed for
them to receive. Acts 19.

When Cornelius the gentile and the people (also gentiles) with him heard the gospel
from the Apostle Peter's lips, God Himself took the initiative to pour out on them
the Holy Spirit, while Peter was still preaching. Acts 10.

This, then, is where Discipleship begins: GET THE NEW BELIEVERS TO BE BAPTIZED IN
THE HOLY SPIRIT.

I see something here, and this brings us to the next step.

DISCIPLESHIP, The Next Step

Prov.22.6 - Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will
not depart from it.

Matt.28.19 - Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations...

Matt.28.20 - teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you...

Here is one such command.

Acts.1.4 - And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart
from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you
have heard from Me;
Acts.1.5 - for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the
Holy Spirit not many days from now."

The command here is: WAIT FOR THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER.

One might complain and say: BUT THEY ALREADY RECEIVED THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY
SPIRIT in STEP ONE.

True, they were baptized in the HOLY Spirit in STEP ONE, and they now have the Holy
Spirit. But consider what Paul says:
Eph.5.18 - And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled
with the Spirit,

The original Greek says we are to be always filled with the Holy Spirit.

Remember the Parable Of The Ten Virgins, how five were left behind for not having
sufficient oil?

Consider this verse.

Acts.6.3 - Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of
the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them.

Notice that qualification for inclusion was that HE SHOULD BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY
SPIRIT. But weren't all the believers in the Jerusalem church baptized in the Holy
Spirit?

Yes, but precisely the reason why Paul gave the command to be always filled is
because fullness in the Holy Spirit is not automatic.

AND THIS IS WHY WE TEACH AND TRAIN DISCIPLES ON

HOW TO WAIT FOR THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER.

How to go in and how to go out. We are to learn how to so pray as to meet DLORD,
and so as to go out from prayer filled with the Holy Spirit. He anoints my head
with oil, my cup overflowing.

Which brings us to STEP THREE.

AMP Luke.24.53 - And they were continually in the temple celebrating with praises
and blessing and extolling God. Amen (so be it).

Amp Acts.2.46 - And day after day they regularly assembled in the temple with
united purpose, and in their homes they broke bread [including the Lord 's Supper].
They partook of their food with gladness and simplicity and generous hearts,

AMP Acts.2.47 - Constantly praising God and being in favor and goodwill with all
the people; and the Lord kept adding [to their number] daily those who were being
saved [from spiritual death].

AMP Acts.2.42 - And they steadfastly persevered, devoting themselves constantly to

the instruction and fellowship of the apostles, to the breaking of bread [including
the Lord 's Supper] and prayers.

Yes indeed! The Word of God is the finality for everything.

And Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.

Jesus in prayer: Father, the words You gave me I gave them, and they received Your
words.

Jesus to His disciples: you are clean because of the words I spoke to you, but not
all of you.

He became sin who knew no sin, that we might become the righteousness of God in
Christ Jesus.
Believe God, like Abraham believed God. Don't be selective in what you belive. We
live by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.

When we are selective, we are saying: some of God's words are reliable, but others
are not and they are not for me. Hey, we are saying that God lies sometimes and
that not everything He says is reliable.

But we of the faith are children of Abraham, and like Abraham, we believe.

Jesus Christ, The Word of God made flesh:

John.12.48 - He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which
judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.

John.12.49 - For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me
gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.

John.12.50 - And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I
speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak."
