Dussehra Puja Mantra

There are various puja rituals to be performed on dussehra. Chanting a
specific mantra while performing any puja makes it more fruitful. Know

There is no particular mantra for vehicle puja or

Vahana puja to be performed at home. However
the most favourable mantra for this puja will be
Maha mrityunjay mantra which provides protection
to one and all

ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहेसुगिन्धं
पुिष्टवधर्नम्उवार्रुकिमव बन्धनान्
मृत्योमुर्क्षीय मामृतात्

The meaning of the above mantra is: Om – We worship the three-eyed

one (Lord Siva) who is fragrant and who nourishes well all beings; may He
liberate us from death for the sake of Immortality even as a cucumber is
severed from its bondage (to the creeper).

Atma Pooja Mantra:

Main ritual of Dussehra is Ravan dahan which signifies burning the evils
inside you and attain purity. While watching or performing Ravan Dahana
you can chant Atma Puja Mantra. It is done during Dusera with the
objective of “self purification”

The meaning of the above mantra is: Whoever contemplates upon

Vishnu gets automatically purified, both mentally and physically.

After putting on tilak and drinking of holy water from the palm of your
hand, the following additional mantra is recited:

Om Keshava Namah, Om Narayan Namah, Om Madhavaya Namah, Om

Govinda Namah

The meaning of the above mantra is: I bow to thee Keshav, I bow to
thee Narayan, I bow to thee Madhav, I bow to thee Govind.

Shami Tree Puja Mantra:

Yet another important ritual on dussehra is worshiping shami tree. Puja
mantra is

Shami Shamayate papam shami lokhitkantaka

Dharinyarjunbananam Ramasya priyavadini
Karishmanyatraya yathakal such mya
Tatra nirvighanktri twam bhav Sree Rampujite

शमी शमयतेपापं शमी लोिहतकण्टका । धािरण्यजुर्नबाणानां रामस्य िप्रयवािदनी ।।

किरष्यमाणयात्रायां यथाकाल सुखं मया । तत्रिनिवर्घ्नकत्रीर्त्वंभवश्रीरामपूिजते।।

The meaning of the above mantra is: O Shami, Lord Rama has
worshipped you. I now embark upon my journey to victory. May you make
it pleasant and free from obstacles.
