the HCL group of companies. HCL is a global enterprise with 119,000+ professionals from 140 diverse
nationalities operating in 32 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East
and Africa.

Shiv Nadar University is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, research-focused and student-centric

University. Through its innovative curriculum and interdisciplinary focus, the University is bringing a
paradigm shift in higher education in India. Enabling students to pursue excellence in their Major
while simultaneously pursuing other academic interests through various options for a Minor, the
University inculcates critical thinking and problem solving skills. It prepares students to become
leaders and decision-makers in the academic, research, industry, business and policy arenas.
About the School
The School of Management and Entrepreneurship (SME) at Shiv Nadar University was established in 2014 with
the vision to be a globally recognized institution … located in India but serving the world. The School has been
recruiting both established and high potential faculty from top educational institutions across the globe. SME
has also invested in educational technology and infrastructure to establish a student-centric foundation for
experiential learning -- including design thinking, innovation prototyping and start-up incubation for
entrepreneurship. SME currently offers an I-Global MBA and Undergraduate program in Business Studies.
Given a special focus on entrepreneurship in both the programs, SME is a proud partner of the Niti Ayog which
has selected it for the prestigious Atal Innovation Mission. It is also associated with Babson College, rated as
the #1 entrepreneurship program in the world. The association includes opportunities for undergraduates to
spend a semester at Babson.
Director’s Message
Dear Student,

Thank you for your interest in Shiv Nadar University and our I-Global MBA program.

This is a two year journey specifically architected to create Global Leaders – in India…. for India and the
world. Designed by distinguished faculty from Shiv Nadar University, Harvard Business School, The Haas
School of Business, U.C. Berkeley and IIM Calcutta, it is benchmarked against the very best MBA programs in
the world. With the benefit of global exposure before students graduate – via opportunities for a semester
abroad at our prestigious partner university in Beijing, distinguished overseas visiting faculty and an
international curriculum, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and competencies they need to
flourish in the Digital Age anywhere they choose to live and work in the world.
The I-Global MBA is centered on success in a technology disrupted, rapidly changing global business
environment and the many exciting placement options available to those with the requisite training. “I” is
being used as a prefix to emphasize this focus on technology preparedness, analytics and digital literacy
throughout the program. “I” is also intended to convey emphasis on individual development, creativity and
entrepreneurial leadership. The curriculum includes personalized strength assessments, mentoring as well
as the flexibility to develop deep specializations and career tracks in multiple high demand areas. Our goal is
to build global career readiness while empowering each individual to chart their preferred path to success.

'if you dream of making your mark in life; if you aspire to compete with the best in the world and WIN; if

Wishing you every success.

SME I-Global MBA Program
Developing Global Leaders from India – for India and the World

Cross-Cultural Leadership Curriculum

We live in a deeply interconnected world with a wide-variety of devices and channels supporting
unprecedented exchanges of ideas and information. Managers must cope with rapid change in a volatile and
complex global business environment in which seemingly distant global events affect company strategies and
policies at the other end of the world. This requires analytical and cognitive capabilities of a new order as well
as deep 'action' learning that is very distinct from the programs offered by traditional B-Schools.

To meet the challenge of inculcating this new 'Digital Era Management Leadership' into its students, the
I-Global MBA curriculum features the following elements:
• ‘Global-thinking’: The I-Global MBA curriculum incorporates global business and business history cases to
enable an integrated view of business, society and technology across cultures.

• Internships: Living in a global economy, employees working in international teams and multi-cultural
environments need to be sensitive and respectful of cultural differences and nuances. SME will work with its
students to secure internship opportunities and live project experience after Year 1 of the program.

• ‘Study Abroad’ Semesters’ in a leading management school: SME provides exposure to a global student
experience, specialized knowledge and cultural practices to its students via a semester abroad opportunity at the
HSBC School of Business in Peking University.

• Top tier global faculty: In the recent past, professors from Boston College, Harvard Business School, Babson
College, MIT, Boston University, leading industry practitioners from Wall Street, former CXO’s from MNC’s and top
Indian corporates have delivered sessions on diverse aspects of business. Apart from providing prized
mentoring opportunities to students, these sessions dramatically widen their horizons.

• Foreign language options: As part of the I-Global MBA curriculum, to aid them in obtaining future global
placements, students are provided an opportunity for on-campus language training in Spanish or Mandarin
[involves additional instructor fees]
Technology and Digital Economy
New Disruptive Technologies: Disruptive technologies like the Internet of Things, Cloud technology, 3D
printing, Next-generation genomics and robotics will have a massive impact on the business, life, and the global
economy. These technologies have the potential to drive direct economic impact on the order of $14 trillion to
1
$33 trillion per year in 2025 . Organizations need employees with high-level expertise in the new technologies to
lead them in a hyper-competitive global economy. Via cases, workshops and sessions with industry experts, SME
ensures that its graduates have exposure to transformative new technologies and their application across the
industries including manufacturing, transportation, retailing, agriculture, health care, and retailing.

Digital Strategists and Integrated Program Management: The ‘Digital megatrend’ is affecting firms in all
the industries. Firms have to build capabilities to remain relevant in the digital environment, realize their full
growth potential and face competitive threats. Top management is relying more and more on tools such as data
analytics for strategic decision making. Through a combination of courses, workshops and interaction with
industry executives, SME students are trained to assess and address the digital requirements of organizations
and devise effective competitive strategies for the new ‘ecosystem’ economy. Their capabilities are built to blend
the traditional modes of doing business with digital technologies needed to sustain and lead the organizations in
the future.

Majors and an Advanced Specialization Overlay
SME encourages its students to choose an area of specialization based on their interest and career trajectory.
The primary specializations offered in the MBA programme are Marketing, Strategic Management, Finance,
Human Resources Management and Operations Management. In addition to the chosen primary specialization,
students are encouraged to build their knowledge and skills by choosing elective courses for an Advanced
Specialization in the following:

Entrepreneurship: Entrepreneurship education is in the DNA of Shiv Nadar University. Students are offered
core courses on Design Thinking and Innovation, Starting and Managing New Ventures. Elective courses offered
on Creating and Launching New Ventures focus on giving an entrepreneurial orientation to everyone and
nurturing the entrepreneurship DNA.

Advanced Finance : Students are offered elective courses such as Business Valuation, Mergers & Acquisitions ,
Corporate Restructuring, Options and Derivatives and Raising Capital.

E-commerce and Digital Marketing: Few businesses can flourish today without a digital presence.
E-commerce and digital marketing have become all pervasive. SME offers courses and workshops to develop
integrated campaign management capabilities.

Data Science and Analytics: Predictive analytics and Data Mining are a significant key to competitive
advantage. With exposure in courses to Big Data, Data Visualization, Predictive Business Analytics and Decision
Theory students can begin to build skill sets that will make them sought-after in the market.
Personalized Leadership Development
The program aims to provide personalized leadership development to students using a multi-pronged approach.
The planned personalized leadership development curriculum has the following components:
Psychometric and Behavioral Assessments: Psychometric tests are a proven method of assessing a
person’s cognitive abilities and personality traits. Administered at an early juncture, they can prove to be a
valuable source of guidance for students. At SME, these psychometric and behavioral assessments are
integrated into a course offering to provide students with deeper self-awareness and focus areas to refine their
leadership capacities.

Faculty Mentoring: SNU and SME prides themselves in giving individual attention to students. Every student
has a designated faculty mentor. The mentors aim to play an active role in the student’s overall progress while at
the University. Additionally, students are encouraged to actively interact with different scholars and practitioners.
Experiential Learning
The I-Global MBA program is designed to train students for leadership roles. The students spend about 15% of
their time in learning by doing through various activities. Experiential learning for us is a co-curricular, serious and
rigorous activity in which students are evaluated and graded by the faculty members. Some of the important
components of experiential learning are:

Rural Experiential Program: Rural Experiential Program (REP) is a mandatory component of the curriculum
during which students stay in villages for about 10 days. One of the objectives of REP is to sensitize the students to
various facets of living in rural areas. This component provides an opportunity to experience
socio-cultural, political and economic conditions prevailing in villages across the country. REP helps students to
explore entrepreneurial opportunities, ways of reaching customers at the last mile and also connect producers from
rural areas to various markets.

Skill Building Workshops: Practitioners from various organizations are invited to conduct workshops at SME on
specialized topics. We organize intensive skill building workshops on finer aspects of leadership conduct including
communications and business etiquette.

Industrial Visits: At SME, we encourage our students to learn and know the industry best practices. Tours are
organized as feasible to industrial towns to understand and relate to various management principles and areas such
as Finance, Operations, Marketing, Strategy and Human Resources. In addition, industry tours are organized to
industrial hubs and clusters, service industries, and process oriented facilities.
Global Immersion Program
The I-Global MBA offered by School of Management and Entrepreneurship at Shiv Nadar University is providing a
Global Immersion Program to all admitted students for the class of 2019-21.

The Global Immersion Program shall allow students to spend 3 weeks with University of Warwick (ranked as top
20 MBA program by Economist) in London and gain international exposure. These 3 weeks will not only provide
an exclusive opportunity to learn from international faculty and guest speakers but also provide an
understanding of the culture that will help students to become global leaders of tomorrow.

As a SNU I-Global MBA student, you would be able to gain on multiple aspects by spending time in London. We
chose London, because its:

Ÿ A center of academic excellence with over 70 Nobel prize laureates studied or worked at a London
University
Ÿ One of the World’s financial capitals
Ÿ International student city, that attracts over 100,000 students from across the world
