I. PRELIMINARIES
Focus: Texture
Motivation:
 Recitation
Guide question:
 What is texture?
 What comes on your mind when you hear texture?
Activating prior knowledge:
 Have you tried to play any instrument?
 What do you feel when you hear a chant or a choir singing?

II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT

A. Presentation of concepts
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1. Identify the basic characteristics of the three textures (Monophonic,
Homophonic, and Polyphonic); by providing definition and examples for every
texture.
2. Classify and distinguish between different types of texture by listening to
different types of musical composition.
3. Improve their hearing ability by listening and analyzing the structure of each
song given and be able to recognize its corresponding texture.

B. Broadening of concept

Activities:

1. Audio listening and identifying the corresponding texture.


2. Presenting the instructional material and let them interact with it by touching
3. Let them reflect upon touching the instructional material
4. Call 3 representative and let them sing” twinkle-twinkle little star” in 3 types of
texture (monophonic, homophonic, and polyphonic).
5. Divide the class into 4-5 groups and sing “An Easter Round”, each group should
start at different points of the song.

1. What would be the polyphonic texture describes best?
2. Where do you think is the monophonic texture mostly used?
C. Integration
a. Social Orientation
 Promote the learners to appreciate music beyond the reach of mere
listening and engage them to understand the value of its structure and
elements.
 Observe rules and regulation.
b. Lesson across discipline:
 Geology: classification of igneous rocks, texture and composition.
 Arts: Colors, and structure.
