compression is one-third of the panel member force in tension. Once you complete the
calculation of the diagonal member forces, calculate the remaining truss member forces.

2. For the given beam structure, sketch the bending moment diagram. Based on your moment
diagram sketch, locate the inflection point(s) and calculate the support reactions for the given
statically indeterminate beam using approximate analysis. Based on your calculated support
reactions, calculate and draw the shear force and bending moment diagrams. Also, calculate
the magnitude and location of the maximum positive bending moment.
