Faster way to select all elements

Take advantage of MicroStation's accelerator keys by customizing

Edit > Select All so that it's activated by CTRL+A.
This will comply with most other software packages that use
the same accelerator to select all objects and fits nicely with a power users
work style which is "one hand on the keyboard, one hand on the mouse".
Select all elements on the active level

Ever wanted to select only those elements on the active level

even when all levels are on?

If so, try this keyin from Dave Preston:

lock level on;choose all;lock level off

Or how about this one from Phil Chouinard:

choose none;lock level toggle;choose all;lock level toggle

Finally, you can try this V8 keyin one from Deepak Malkan
level element select [level_name]

With thanks to these fellows for sharing thier tips on the

discussion groups!
Fit the view to the fence

Oh, this is cool! With thanks to Gerald Hernandez for posting

this tip on the v8.general discussion group.

To fit the view and adjust the window to a fence, use the
keyin fit tofence.
You could use this to ...oh, I dunno, how about clip or print
part of a drawing based on a specific view size, or create
saved views of a specific size and shape?
Toggle Fill Display with one button

To quickly turn on and off the display of filled elements, stick this keyin
on a function key:

set fill toggle;point ab;update view;point ab

Rotate isometric view in 90 degree increments

To quickly rotate your isometric view in 90 degree increments, use

either of these keyins:

Clockwise: RV=-54.5,-54.5,-90
Counter-Clockwise: rv=-54.5,54.5,90
Start MicroStation without the splash screen

To start MicroStation a wee bit

faster, turn off the splash
screen at the system level. To
do this, go to Control Panel >
System > Advanced >
Environmental Variables and
set MS_NOSPLASH = 1 as
shown in the video below.

What's neat about doing this, is

that it works on all
instances/versions of
MicroStation that are installed
on your machine.
Determine attached references without starting MicroStation

To display attached references of a design file without having to open MicroStation, do this:

Make a copy of your MicroStation desktop icon.

Highlight the new icon, do a right click and select Properties
In the Target field, append -waref after the ustation.exe
ie: C:\Program Files\Bentley\Program\MicroStation\ustation.exe" -waref

Drag and drop a file from Windows Explorer onto the new icon.
Then press 1
Press 3 to exit.

Note, use the numbers above QWERTYUIOP on your keyboard, not those on the numberpad. Also, if you want .... you
can copy the results to the system clipboard file by clicking on the little Bentley logo in the top left corner and selecting
Edit > Select All and then press Enter.
Quickly turn on/off extension lines

Use the command change dimension extension toggle to quickly turn extension lines on or off.

You can use this command a couple of different ways. To toggle the display of all extension lines, first
put the dimension in a selection set and then execute the keyin as shown in the clip below.

Or, to toggle the display of individual extension lines, execute the keyin and then poke on the
extension line.

Oh yeah, you could also just use the keyin change dimension extension - All extension lines that were
on are turned off, and all extension lines that were off are turned on.
