1. Objective & Summary


This document outlines the scope and responsibilities for the above named position.

2. Position Details
Position Title: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Department: Management
Reports to: Managing Director
Purpose: Supervise and control all strategic and business aspects of the company,
responsible for the overall business operations strategy. Overseeing daily operations
and keeping the MD apprised of significant events.

3. Key Duties &Responsibilities

 Develop high quality operations strategies and plans ensuring their alignment
with short-term and long-term objectives
 Measures effectiveness and efficiency of operational processes both internally
and externally and finds ways to improve processes
 Lead and motivate subordinates to advance employee engagement develop a
high performing managerial team
 Oversee daily operations and business activities to ensure they produce the
desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission
 Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth
 Participate in expansion activities e.g. investments, new products
 Enforce adherence to legal guidelines and in-house policies to maintain the
company’s legality and business ethics
 Review financial and non-financial reports to devise solutions or improvements
 Ensure that expenditures of the Company are within the authorized annual
budget of the Company
 Evaluate performance by analysing and interpreting data and metrics
 Create and submit reports to the MD in all matters of importance
 Build trust relations with key partners and stakeholders and act as a point of
contact for important shareholders
 Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure
company survival and growth
 Lead by personal example and encourage all employees to conduct their
activities in accordance with all applicable laws and the Company’s standards
and policies
 Maintain a deep knowledge of the markets and industry of the company

4. Essential Skills/Knowledge
 Proven experience as COO or other managerial position within a power related
business
 Understanding of business functions such as Finance, Service, HR etc.
 Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
 An entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organizational and leadership
skills
 Analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
 Excellent communication with outstanding organizational and leadership
abilities
 Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively and delegate
 Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015requirements

5. Desirable Skills/Knowledge
 Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels
of the organization
 Ambitious and self-driven
 High level of written and oral communication skills
 Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound
judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
 Strong influencing and negotiation skills
 High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and

 High standard of attention to detail

6. Education and/or Professional Qualifications


 10 years of experience in a senior management position
 Exposure to African countries/organisation will be advantage
 Experience in an Engineering Products/Capital Equipment/Project based
organisation preferred.
 Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or MBA
