COLLISION DETAILS:
On July 6, 2019, at approximately 8:36 p.m., a fatal traffic collision involving multiple vehicles occurred on S.
Decatur Blvd. at the intersection with W. Flamingo Rd. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate an
Indian Motorcycle was traveling west on W. Flamingo Rd with a green traffic signal. A white Nissan Altima was
traveling north on S. Decatur Blvd. and entered the intersection against a red traffic signal. The front of the
Nissan struck the motorcycle resulting in the motorcycle overturning as it was redirected in a northwesterly
direction across the median north of the intersection. The Altima continued northwest across the median which
resulted in a secondary collision with the left side of a stopped Nissan Sentra occupying the left of two
southbound left turn lanes of S. Decatur Blvd.
The impact forced the Sentra west into a stopped Chevrolet Traverse occupying the second left turn lane. The
white Nissan Altima continued north where the front struck the front of a stopped, black in color Nissan Altima
occupying the left turn lane behind the Sentra. The white Nissan Altima continued north where it struck the left
rear of a stopped Toyota Corolla, and the front of a Nissan Rogue stopped behind the Corolla in the same turn
lane.
The motorcycle and motorcyclist were separated at the time of the initial impact by the northbound white Nissan
Altima. The motorcycle unoccupied as it continued to travel northbound and struck the left side of the stopped
black Nissan Altima. The motorcycle continued northbound until it struck the front of a GMC Yukon traveling
southbound on S. Decatur Blvd.
The motorcyclist was struck by several vehicles before coming to rest in front of the Nissan Rogue. The
motorcyclist was transported to UMC where he was pronounced deceased upon arrival. The driver of the white
Nissan Altima fled the scene on foot before police and medical personnel responded to the scene.
