Crochet Pattern
Please use caution around children and small animals, as small parts could
present a choking hazard!
Materials Used:
Any weight yarn (Model is created in I Love This Yarn~Madrigal, approximately
125 yds.)
Size G/6 (4.25mm) crochet hook
Small amount of stuffing
Optional~18mm safety eyes
Yarn needle
Size/Gauge:
Gauge is not important to this project. Use any size hooks and yarn you like.
Finished model measures approximately 7” tall, sitting.

Sc2tog-single crochet 2 stitches together

BLO-work in back loops only of indicated stitch(es)

Instructions:
Head/Body: (Stuff as you go)
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 10 hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (10 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st around. Join. (20 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (30 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around.
Join. (40 sts)
Rnds 5-10: ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join. (40 sts)
Rnd 11: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Sc2tog*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (30
sts)
Rnd 12: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Sc2tog*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (20 sts) *If using
safety eyes, insert them now, at rnd 7, with 6 stitches in between each eye.
Rnd 13: ch 1. Sc2tog, 10 times. Join. (10 sts)
Rnd 14: ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st around. Join. (20 sts)
Rnd 15: ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join. (20 sts)
Rnd 16: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (30 sts)

opening shut.
Ears: (Make 2)
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 8 hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st around. Join. (16 sts)
Rnds 3-4: ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join. (16 sts) Fasten off, leaving a long tail
for sewing.
My bear was designed to sit, but you could easily sew the legs to the bottom of
the body, and stuff firmly, to make him stand, or use buttons at the top of each
arm and each leg, for a jointed, poseable bear. Adding little jingle bells or crinkly
plastic inside the body before closing will make a fun tactile toy for little
fingers…The possibilities are endless! ☺
