Summary
A comprehensive federal poverty reduction strategy would make a significant difference for millions of
poor Canadians. This poverty reduction strategy should include a vision with measurable targets and
timelines, an action plan and budget, mechanisms of accountability and indicators to monitor progress.

Issue
 Appraisers is currently spread in different local board under PAREB.
 There is a consistent clamor for further education and upgrading skills that will enhance the
professional development and be at par with other practitioners around the world
 PAREB also has the duty to the public by adhering to international standards on valuation

Background
 In 2017, PAREB started to provide services to its members thru education, seminars and forums.
We have started the directory of member-appraisers, workshops and seminars and representation
in different government agencies and international seminars.

Rationale
Membership in international organization will help PAREB member-appraiser’s skills and capability in
providing services to their clients, work with brokers and other real estate practitioners.

Recommendation
 National Directorate should apply for membership in international valuation organization such as
International Valuation Standard Council; ASEAN Valuers Association (AVA); and World
Association of Valuation Organization (WAVO).
 International Valuation Standard Council is an independent organization that act as the global
setter for valuation practice. It develops the International Valuation Standards (IVS) which
underpin consistency, transparency and confidence in valuation across the globe. It helps in
facilitating member organizations to collaborate and cooperate. Its members include valuation
practitioners, NGOs, regulators and academic institutions.
 Worlad Association of Valuation Organizations (WAVO) is a body which brings together
professional property valuation organization, property consultants, public sector and business
industry. Among its mission is to develop and enhance valuation and related profession, and to
ensure the provision of services of consistently high standard and uniformity in the public
interest. It promotes best practices, supporting rubust and consisting standards and facilitates
lifelong learnings among its member organizations.
 ASEAN Valuers Association on the other hand is an organization of different organizations in
ASEAN member countries. Its mission is to promote closer relations, cooperation and mutual
understanding amongst valuers.
