Badshah should go with the third option; that is- to delegate the running of Uptown
Treehouse to a general manager and use its profits to finance Socedo. Mr.Badshah would try not to
spend much time on Uptown Treehouse.

Aseem Badshah created Uptown Treehouse that creates social media campaigns for media and product
companies. It is just 3 years old but earns an annual profit of more than $300,000 on revenue of $1.3
million. On the other hand, Socedo is based in Seattle and and a new startup that develops and sells a
software that searches social media and other Web sources to generate sales leads.

Luckily, both the business got life and now Mr. Badshah is in a dilemma about where to invest more
time or which business he should put more focus on. For that, he is given the above solution that he
should spend more time on developing Socedo and not spend too much time on Uptown Treehouse. And
there are some reasons for this-

Firstly, there is no reason of thinking to relinquish Uptown Treehouse and focus totally on Socedo.
Treehouse is doing very well and generates profit of $300,000. To be an entrepreneur, it is not
mandatory that all the commitments should lie on one business.

Secondly, the profit and revenue that is generated from Treehouse can be a solution to the financing
problem of Socedo. Badshah can also search for outside investors and can continue the company with

Thirdly, there is market potential for Socedo and it was proved by tests of Mr. Badshah. There are
indications that some 20 percent of the sales leads generation of Socedo for its clients is highly qualified
for those clients to include them in their sales pipelines. With about 10 percent of the companies
indicating they are ready to pay for Socedo on a monthly basis. So, spending time to develop and sell
Socedo is justified.

Lastly, Mr. Badshah can look at it as a challenge and pursue his dreams. He is already a successful
entrepreneur and should take this risk without thinking much of the consequences because he already
has a financial backup to sustain any crash. Moreover, continuing both the ventures will give him 2
separate revenue streams. So, it will help him financially as well. For this, Mr Badshah should hire
effective managers to look after the operations of Treehouse and train the manager(s) as well. If he is
satisfied that Treehouse is in good hands now, only then he can focus on developing Socedo.

According to us, this was the best solution. All the options have their own high points and low points.
So, it is for sure that this solution will also have some risks and drawbacks. But still we think that it is
the best one based on the reasons shown above.
