Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Questions will be read aloud by the teacher in order to support students who have visual or reading needs.
Students will be placed in collaborative groups that are strategically picked to support each students learning
strengths.
There will be visual aspects included to support students with hearing impairments.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

Prior to the SRT Activity the teacher will teach a lesson on the major cities in the United States (outlined in
content standard above). Students will learn the geographic location of each city, as well as major features
and historical importance of each city.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Student Response and Assessment Tools
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: (What will the students do? What will the
teacher do? What materials are needed? How long with the activity last?)
Students will be placed in groups to engage in a Kahoot! To review the content learned through the lesson.
Students will work collaboratively in their groups to answer each Kahoot! Question on their group’s IPad or
Tablet device.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☐ Yes
☒ No
Why or why not?
Rather than pre-selecting questions to review I plan to use the results of the Kahoot! as a formative
assessment, and use the results to inform how I need to proceed with the subject.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
Missed questions will be review in a teacher-facilitated discussion. Students will have the opportunity to
share their knowledge and understanding in order to help their peers connect to the material.
How will the data be used?
The data collected will be used to inform further instruction. If students show mastery then the teacher will
continue on to a summative assessment in the form of a quiz, but if the students show need for more
instruction the teacher will continue with this subject.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
My personal learning goal for this activity is to gain more understanding of Kahoot! and its features. I also
hope to see how well students work together in collaborative, competitive settings. I hope that students will
be able to express their knowledge and that this practice helps solidify the content they learned.
Reflective Practice:
I hope that this lesson impacts students by reviewing the content and solidifying their understandings. It also
wraps up the lesson in a way that reviews the material and engages students. To further extend this lesson I
could have included SRTs throughout the lesson periodically to gage interest, rather than just a closing
activity.
