FOURTH CONSECUTIVE CLEAN AUDIT AWARD FOR THE JDA

The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) received, for the fourth consecutive year, a
certificate of appreciation for obtaining a clean audit opinion from the Auditor-General for the
2017/18 Financial Year.

The agency was one of four City entities that received the award when the City of
Johannesburg hosted its Public Service Day, a day to honor the value and virtue of public
servants in the City.

The event, which featured a keynote address from Executive Mayor of the City of Joburg,
Councillor Herman Mashaba, took place at the Gallagher Convention Centre on Friday, 5 July
2019.

The JDA has successfully completed large-scale infrastructure projects that tangibly improve
the standard of living for Johannesburg residents, and unlocks potential for businesses to
thrive in strategic area nodes.

It has implemented over 600 projects across all administrative regions of the City in its 18
years of operation, and has been responsible for spearheading and delivering the City of
Johannesburg’s strategic projects since inception.

“The JDA implements capital projects across a variety of programmes aimed at achieving
catalyzing growth in areas with dormant investment potential. This award clearly
demonstrates how the Agency is committed to reaching this objective, whilst maintaining good
governance.” said Member of Mayoral Committee for Development Planning, Cllr Reuben
Masango.

Other awards saw 191 City employees being presented with the Long Service Awards, which
awards appreciate employees that has been public servants for over 39 Years, the Service
with Pride award, for employees that have went out of their way to deliver outstanding service
and 2019 Best Regions awards, which were won by Place Region A in first place, Region E
in second place and Region D in third Place, respectively.

City employees who have lost their lives in the line of duty were also honoured during the
ceremony.
