SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN AND LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT

Learning objectives

In modern business the issue of sustainability is a great concern for the business leaders. Different
stakeholders including, customers, investors, legislators, governments and pressure groups are
concerned about the impact of operations on environment and society. Issues such as global warming,
depletion of natural reserves, waste management, emerging producer responsibility legislation, air
transport, corporate social responsibility reporting are just a few examples of the complex nature of the
area. This course is designed to introduce students to the subject of sustainability from a supply chain
perspective. Specifically, the objectives of the course are to provide students with:

§ Understanding the critical issues surrounding the concepts of sustainability

§ Understanding the issues related to corporate responsibility and ethics

§ Understanding relationships and implications for sustainable development and supply chain and
logistic operations.

§ Understanding contemporary methods of evaluating sustainability impacts relating specifically to


supply chain and logistic operations.

§ Conceptual understanding of emerging supply chain sustainability models.

§ Ability to evaluate and appraise emerging supply chain sustainability models and strategies.
