Selectingthe AF Mode
* About Predictive AF
lf the subject approachesor retreatsfrom the camera at a constant rate,
the camera tracks the subject and predictsthe focusing distance
immediatelybeforethe pictureis taken. lt thus predictsthe distancewhere
the subjectwill be at the moment of exposure.This is for obtaininga more
accuratefocus.
. In the automaticfocusingpoint selectionmode (+page 45),the camera
first uses the centerfocusingpoint to focus. lf the subjectlater moves
away from the center focusingpoint,focus trackingcontinuesas long as
the subjectis covered by anotherfocusingpoint.The activefocusing
point does not flash.
. In the manualfocusingpoint selectionmode (+page 45),the focusing
pointthat flashes in red is used for predictiveAF.
. When you select the focusing point wilh Eye Control (+page 47), Eye
Control Servo AF takes effect.As long as the moving subject is covered
by a focusingpoint,predictiveAF continuesas you keep lookingat the
subject.
