“You can’t teach children to behave better by making them feel worse.

When
children feel better, they behave better.” I agree with the statement of Pam Leo because
we are not teaching the students to hurt them instead we are helping them to learn. We
need to show to the students that we are their mother/father in school and we need to
show respect to the learners because respect begins to us.

It is hard to manage a kindergarten but as educators we need to be able to do

something that will help the students learning in classroom setting. As what I have
observed in Artemio Loyola Elementary School, the big problem in kindergarten class
was the behavior of the students. There were students that love to play and not paying
attention in the class discussion. Some students were roaming around and fighting with
their other classmates. But there were introvert learners that love to seat and just listen
to the discussion. I really admire the teacher because her patience to the students was
very high and her dedication in teaching the students was really amazing. During the
observation, I am happy being with them because I have learned a lot of things
especially in dealing with students like them. It was a big pleasure to help the teacher in
facilitating the students and teaching them in a short period of time.

The students were participative during class discussion but there were students
that are slow learners and some were fast learners. The teacher can’t handle the class
well because of the numbers of students. I have observed that there was a student that
was different from the normal children. As I walked to her I asked her if she knows how
to write and read and she answers me angrily “kabalo uy.” I am not shocked because
the teacher told me already that she is a special child. I tried to talk with her by helping
her in answering the activity that the teacher wrote in the green board. I am glad that
she follows what I teach and it touches my heart when the teacher checked her red
notebook for the first time because her notebook was empty since then.

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” Confucius
statement was correct because I believe that slowly but surely. In teaching we should
not stop learning because learning is dynamic. Teaching is not a job but it is a service
that we need to be compassionate and committed to the things that we are doing.
