Beat.
Davey: Yeah.
Danielle: Oh nothing.
Danielle: In them?
Davey: What?
Danielle: Egg. There's egg in my sandwiches. I know most people don't like egg, but
I like egg.
Danielle: Do you?
Danielle: Oh right.
Beat.
Davey: What?
Davey: Me?
Danielle: Yeah.
Beat.
Davey: Yeah.
Danielle smiles and hands him a sandwich. He eats standing up. He wolfs it down in
a few mouthfuls.
Danielle: Thanks.
Pause.
Davey: What, this is your dinner? Danielle, you should have told me – I can't eat your
dinner.
Danielle: Yes.
Danielle: No.
Beat.
Davey: What?
Danielle: Egg.
Davey: Yeah.
Beat.
Davey: Yeah.
Davey takes a seat, she passes him a stick of gum. They chew on their gum.
Silence.
Danielle: Who?
Davey: Mark Chatters. Lives on Lee's estate. You know the one.
Danielle: Monkey?
Davey: Well, he has. And get this. He came home last week and found it up on the
sofa shagging the cat.
Danielle: What?
Davey: Yeah, the monkey's up on the sofa giving it to the cat.
Davey laughs.
Davey: Sorry, I thought you'd find it funny. I didn't mean to upset you. I was just
trying to make you laugh. Sorry, Danielle, I just wanted you to laugh. You got a
great laugh.
Danielle: No.
Danielle: I don't.
I love. It when you laugh in class. When you do, you light it up. But I wish it was me,
though, that was making you laugh.
