ASSIGNMENT QUESTION
Young children’s exposure to books and other reading materials trigger interest in the
young children towards reading. Recognising the developmental stages and providing an
appropriate environment to nurture the natural acquisition of early reading skills are
important tasks for early childhood educators. In Malaysia, most children learn English as
a second language only at school. Although many teachers and parents are now more
aware of the importance of children starting to learn English early, the question is how to
make English learning process for children as productive as the process of learning their
mother tongue at home?
For this assignment, you are requested to choose only ONE reading method or approach
that is being used by any kindergarten or child care centre. Interview a teacher/child
minder/principal/owner in relation to the chosen reading method or approach.
