a suspected SoviGt agent, in Santiago, Chile.

sity in England to enlist as avQlunteer in the Spanish

citizenship.
d. Su.bsequent to bis arrival in Chile, WILSON in
bis capacity as a jarnalist had opened a one-man crusade
against the British Government, in viol.a t ion of restric-
tions placed on such activities by foreigners in Chile.
He bad been, in addition. masquerading under various
nonexistent titles as a result of which the Chilean
Government on 16 :May 1939, at \the request of the British

expulsion from Chile. Later, however, the decree was
rescinQ.e.d as a. result of WILSON• s plC!as, his state o.f
health and his promise to discontinue his misrapresenta-
t~o~ and other illegal activities.
