Problem1:

specimen. The load at specimen failure is as follows (in MPa).

A rubber spring production company tests modulus of elasticity using a specific non-
standard testing procedure. It is known that the standard deviation of measurement of
modulus of elasticity is 18 units using a non-standard procedure. Currently, the testing
procedure is standardized and a sample of size 20 is tested and standard deviation is found
to be 12.8 units. Is the variability of the testing procedure reduced after standardization of
the testing procedure?

Problem3:
The following data are the lives in hrs. of two batches of electric lamp.

The correlation coefficient between brother’s height and sister’s height of 53 brothers and
sisters pair was found 0.585. Is this coefficient significantly smaller than 0.80?
