OF SCIENCE AND TEGHNOLOGY

Science education aims to develop scientific literacy among learners that will prepare
them to be informed and participative citizens who are able to make judgments and
decisions regarding applications of scientific knowledge to their daily lives.

ln line with these goals, we encourage the participation of students and teachers
from both private and public schools in the celebration of the National Science and
Technology Week (NSTW) of the Department of Science and Technology {DOST)
with the therne 'Sclence for the People: Enabling lechnologfes for Susfainable
Oevelopmenf",from July 17 ta 21, 2019 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City,
pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 169 s. 2013 entitled Declaring the T'hird
Week of July as National Science and Technology Week. This annual N$TW will
gather industry experts, representatives from the government, agriculture,
communication and education sectors, and other stakeholders. This is also an
opportune time to showcase results of exploratory/investigative Science projects and
inventions and other activities that would inspire students to pursue careers in
Science and Technology and to expand the network of STFM advocates.
