INTERNSHIP AT SOLID STATE PHYSICS LABORATORY, NEW DELHI

Respected Sir,

I am currently doing my B Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu
and will be completing my second year in May 2019. I am writing this letter to seek a research
opportunity and carry out some quality work as part of my summer internship in your prestigious R&D
laboratory.

The area of my interest during the internship is ‘Solid State Materials and Devices’. I intend to further
study / work in this area of research and the experience, exposure, knowledge that I will gain through
this opportunity will stand in good stead for me.

As of now, I have completed two Industrial Internships in automobile sector which has given me insight
to industrial processes involved in designing and manufacturing of highly sophisticated products. Apart
from this I have also designed and fabricated a savonius type wind mill under the guidance of IIT, Delhi
faculty which I presented during the 7th Inter IIT Techmeet at IIT, Bombay held in December 2018.

I would also like to mention that, due to my keen interest in material science, I am currently pursuing
two research projects under the guidance of my institute faculty including increasing viscosity index of
engine oil lubricants by doping Nano particles and developing hard composite cladding on stainless
steel using microwave processing while simultaneously finding ways to reduce porosity in it.

I have also contributed in making an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) as part of student automotive engineering
team which gave me exposure to software such as ANSYS. I have also worked on several mini projects
which include gesture-based robotics, automatic solar tracker and similar ideas, strengthening my base
in product designing, fabrication and programming.

I am a very enthusiastic person with required skill set and I will really make the best out of this
opportunity, my knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering, programming and exposure to basic
electronics and material sciences through various projects on different levels and their interdisciplinary
application makes me able to identify and critically analyze problems from different perspectives in
deeper depth to generate relevant solutions.

I am submitting this application for summer internship with reference from Dr Suresh Lal of CFEES,
Delhi and Dr R Rajagopal, Sc ‘F’, DMDE, Secunderabad.
