B. Motivation
Four-Pics-One-Word
a. In a powerpoint presentation, sets of pictures will be flashed on the projector.
These pictures are examples of texts/books like encyclopedia, textbooks, letters,
etc.
b. Using the pictures, the students are expected to guess the word based on the four
pictures presented.
c. In this game, the students are called randomly and they are allowed to use the
mouse of the computer to drag the letters. The teacher will call another student
once the first student answered incorrectly until everyone gets the right term.
d. After the 7 items of the 4pics-1-word, these pictures will be presented to the class.

e. While looking at the pictures, the students will be asked with the following
questions:
1. What have you observed with these pictures?
2. Now, have you ever tried a situation wherein you were asked to write a piece
of work and you don’t even know the reason why you are writing?
f. The lesson will then be introduced to the students.
C. Lesson Proper
Two-way Discussion
1. The teacher will present the different types of text highlighting the purpose and
structures of the following: narration, expository, explanation, recount, and
persuasive.
2. Step by step, the students shall be able to discover the different types and asked
to give examples based on what they have encountered in day-to-day living.
3. After the discussion, the students will be asked if they have any clarifications,
questions, or additional input about the lesson.

D. Analysis
The students are asked to reflect based on the following questions:
1. Based on the types of text presented, do you think it is easier to make an
article/text?
2. What do you think is the importance of classifying text in accordance to writing?
3. Do you think it is possible to make an article without knowing the various types of
texts?

E. Abstraction
The type of text depends on the purpose, structure, and language features.
A narrative text is used to tell a story. Expository is meant to explain or inform the
readers. Explanation is used to express why or how things work. Recount happens
when you are retelling an event to your reader while persuasive aims to convince your
reader or to change their mind.

F. Application

1. The teacher will be showing ten photos of the different types of text. In this game,
there are 6 columns in a matrix showing the following.

2. Individually, the students will drag a photo and drop it to its proper place. They
are allowed to manipulate the computer as they are about to classify the different
types of texts.
3. After dropping the photos to each correct type, the teacher will correct and explain
the works of the students.
