Clinical sessions in which the students examine, take full records and discuss possible treatment
options for orthodontic patients. Also, they will see patients under active treatment and they will do
some orthodontic procedures for them.
At the end of this course, students will present their clinical cases and search for scientific evidence for
assigned orthodontic topics and present their findings.
The clinical part of this course is intended to give the students the chance for examining different
orthodontic cases, detecting orthodontic problems, taking complete diagnostic records and discussing
possible approaches for management. Also, will give them the skills to apply appropriate interceptive
measures and provide the necessary management for different emergencies in orthodontics.
2. Briefly describe any plans for developing and improving the course that are being implemented. (e.g.
increased use of IT or web based reference material, changes in content as a result of new research in the
field)
C. Course Description (Note: General description in the form used in Bulletin or handbook)
Course Description:
This course is carried out in the fifth year of the Dental College. It will be given over a period of
seventeen weeks through a full academic year. In every session, a lecture will be given followed by a
clinic. The goal of this course is to provide the students of the fundamental and comprehensive
knowledge and understanding of orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning for orthodontic patients.
So the graduate students will be competent in recognition, diagnosing and managing orthodontic cases in
the primary, mixed and permanent dentition based on the best scientific evidence available.
1. Topics to be Covered
4. Course Learning Outcomes in NQF Domains of Learning and Alignment with Assessment Methods and
Teaching Strategy
On the table below are the five NQF Learning Domains, numbered in the left column.
First, insert the suitable and measurable course learning outcomes required in the appropriate learning
domains (see suggestions below the table). Second, insert supporting teaching strategies that fit and align
with the assessment methods and intended learning outcomes. Third, insert appropriate assessment methods
that accurately measure and evaluate the learning outcome. Each course learning outcomes, assessment
method, and teaching strategy ought to reasonably fit and flow together as an integrated learning and
teaching process. (Courses are not required to include learning outcomes from each domain.)
