INTRODUCTION

This research discuss about the stress level of STEM students in Pre - calculus. First, we need

to identify the meaning of stress and Pre - calculus to give an idea to the readers to be familiarize

the readers about the topic. Stress is the body’s reaction to any change that requires an

adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental and emotional

responses. Stress is a normal part of life. You can experience stress form your environment, your

body, and your thoughts. While Pre - calculus is a course that includes Algebra and

Trigonometry at a level includes is designed to prepare students for the study of calculus.

Researchers are trying to answer questions regarding to stress level of STEM students that

how it can affect in their thoughts and feelings. The theories of stress began to play an important

role as the physiological responses to stress and the potential relationship between stress and

illness were systematically investigated.

According to William James and Carl Lange ( 1884 and 1885 ) might have separately

proposed their respective theories on the correlation of stress and emotion, but they had a unified

idea on this relationship - emotions do not immediately succeed the perception of the stressor or

the stressful event; they become present after the body’s response of the stress.

According to theories Walter Canon, emotion in response to stress can actually occur even

when the bodily changes are not present. Cannon said that the visceral or internal physiologic

response of one’s body is more slowly recognized by the brain as compared with its function to

release emotional response the attempted to proke his theory by means of creating the so –

called “ decorticated cats “ where in the neural connections of the body are separated from the
cortex in the brain of the cats. When faced with a stressful response, the decorticated ctas

showed emotional behavior which meant feelings of aggression and rage. This emotion was then

manifested by bodily changes such as baring of teeth, glowing and eract hair.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Many senior students of Paso de Blas National High school have feel stress when it comes to pre

- calculus subject. We conduct this research to know what is the level of their stress when it

comes to pre-calculus subject They say that pre-calculus is hard because this subject is more on

analization and solving we conduct also this research to know how they can manage their stress

when it comes to studying pre-calculus and how they can focus on this subject. Stress is good to

other teacher when they see the students because, they the efforts of students to analyze and to

solve but, Stress have more bad side to other it can cause lack of sleep, food and rest because of

stress. Our research tittle The Stress level among Grade 11 STEM students of Paso de Blas

National High School regarding to thier pre-calculus subject. And we also conduct this research

to know what kind of stress their encountered in the pre-calculus subject and how they manage

it, Grade 11 STEM students are not so familiar in pre-calculus that's why some of them can't

manage their stress.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

This study focused on the stress level of Grade 11 in their pre-calculus course. The researchers

gathered data inside of Paso de Blas National High School was selected in Grade 11 STEM

students. And we conduct this research to know what kind of stress level they have. We will do

this research to know the stress level for Grade 11 STEM students in Paso de Blas National

High School and how they survive the certain problems in pre-calculus. This research will help

the grade 11 STEM student to know what are the tips or what are the problem you should do or

you should develop.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

 First for the students like us, they can know the cause and the reason of being stress and

how they can past it
