Apply to train as a Peer Support Worker in

Mental Health

Are you interested in becoming a Peer Support Worker?


A limited number of places are available for people with lived experience of mental health
difficulties and recovery to have course fees and expenses paid, to complete the Certificate
in Peer Support Working in Mental Health in Dublin City University, starting in September
2019.

To apply you must:


 Have lived experience of mental health difficulties and recovery;
 Either have a level 5 NFQ, (e.g. Leaving Certificate) or show that you have other
learning and life experience that qualifies you;
 Have basic computer skills e.g. able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint;
 Be available to travel to Dublin to attend teaching sessions for 16 days over the
duration of the course, starting in September;
 Be available for a work placement as a trainee peer support worker for 19 hours a
week between October 2019 and April 2020 in either Ennis, Kilrush, Limerick City, or
Thurles;
 Be available to attend an informal interview;
 Be able to provide a suitable reference.
