Title: Sun[TM] Cluster 3.1: /var/cluster/run/eventlog filling up filesystem
Update Date: Thu May 26 00:00:00 MDT 2005
Products: Sun Cluster 3.1 Agents 9/04 Software, Sun Cluster 3.1 Software
Technical Areas: Clustering

Keyword(s):cluster, suncluster, eventlog, DS, newcleventlog, cl_eventlogd, 117950

Problem Statement: Top

/var/cluster/run/eventlog is filling up the / or /var filesystem.

Resolution: Top

The size of eventlogs is indirectly controlled by how often the following root
crontab entries added by SUNWscu [NAME: Sun Cluster, (Usr)] get executed.

"...
20 4 * * 0 /usr/cluster/lib/sc/newcleventlog /var/cluster/run/eventlog
20 4 * * 0 /usr/cluster/lib/sc/newcleventlog /var/cluster/logs/DS
..."

By default, these scripts only run on Sunday (i.e. '0' in the 5th column).
You can change this to run more often during the week by editing the above
crontab entries (using "crontab -e") and modifying the 'day' field.
This will roll the logs more often with the 'oldest' being deleted

See the crontab(1) for more details on editing cron.
