PITOGO HIGH SCHOOL

Benchmarking done on July 4, 2014

Background of the Activity :

Anchored on improving what Sta. Catalina National High School can offer to the
community, the school principal thru the school’s Science department projected the opening of a
special science class starting SY 2014-2015. The program once started next June 2015 will cater
to forty (40) Grade 7 students who will be selected from the public elementary schools in the
vicinity barangays of the municipalities of Candelaria, Sariaya, and San Juan thru battery of tests
in three key subject areas, namely: science, english, and mathematics. In addition students who
will be chosen are those whose inclination is geared towards sciences and mathematics.

To give the school, especially science department, the direction as far as planning,
documentation, application for operating special science class, administration of a special
science class, and other matters relative to the operation of a special science class, the idea of
benchmarking an already existing science high school and school offering special science classes
was conceived. Thus, the team consisted of science teachers, namely; Mr. Edgardo M. Benitez,
Mrs. Lilia Z. Reyes, Mr. Nino A. Crisolo, and Mrs. Cristina S. Magpantay was ordered to travel
to Makati City on July 4, 2014.
