COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. To understand the importance of the chemical approach to nanomaterial’s

2. To study the preparation, analysis and applications of metal nanoparticles

3. To develop an understanding of conjugated polymers and their applications

4. To understand how polymer composition and architecture imparts unique properties and behavior

5. To study organic-inorganic hybrid materials(COMPOSITES) and how the incorporation of metals in

the polymer architecture leads to new properties and applications

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES

These educational objectives are supported by a curriculum that seeks to have its graduates achieve

the following student outcomes:

1. Students will Understand the need to increase Nanotechnology awareness in this course

2. Students will apply course material along with procedures and techniques covered in this course

to synthesize nanomaterial’s ,polymers and composites

3. Students will develop specific skills, competencies, and thought processes sufficient to support

further study or work in this field of Nano technology or related fields

4. Students will know the application of Nanotechnology and nanomaterial’s.

COURSE ASSESSMENT METHODS

Theory
Assessment Method Description Weight
Three internal tests will be conducted. All the three tests 15 %
1) Internal Tests
will be considered. (5+5+5= 15)
There will be 3 assignments. All the students will have to
2) Assignments solve and submit assignments within a week’s time after 2.5 %
the assignment is given
3) Attendance Attendance and class participation 2.5%
Total 20
End Term external ( Semester Exam) 30
Practice
Experiments Minimum of 10 experiments to be conducted & Each
30
(Internal) experiment will be evaluated for 3%.
Semester Examination will be conducted in presence
End Term (External) 20
external supervisor.
Grand Total 100
PEDAGOGY
The course will be delivered through:

 Interactive lecture sessions

 Problem solving

 Assignments

 Student presentations.

 Demonstrations and practice of Experiments

 Video/Animations/PPT

GENERAL GUIDELINES

 Class Participation and Attendance: Class participation & clearing of doubts in class is

encouraged and students’ participation in class discussion will be assessed out of 2.5 marks (as

shown in the assessment method)

 Evaluation Pattern: Evaluation is concurrent. During the progress of the course case

presentations, assignments, viva voce and quizzes will be conducted and the marks will keep

on adding to make up the components of internal marks.

 Assignments: Students are required to submit the assignments on declared dates (within one

week when the assignment is given). Late submission will be penalized with low marks.

Assignments which are copied or are of poor quality may be asked for re-submission of

assignments

 Presentation: Student case presentations will be in groups. Formation of groups will depend

upon class size. Student not appearing for the presentation will be awarded zero marks.

 Exam: A student has to appear all the exams and absence in one will lead to a low grade in the
total internal component.
 Practice: Every student has to perform the experiments in the lab. Only one experiments can
be repeated under medical ground. Zero marks will be awarded for absent labs.
