ASTRI WULANDARI. 20138100799. Improving Student’s Reading Comprehension
of Narrative Text Through Small Group Discussion Technique ( a classroom
research at eighth grade of MTs. Al-Juaeniyah, Sukabumi” ). English Department
School Of Teachers Training And Education (STKIP) Kusuma Negara Jakarta, thesis
2017.

The aim of this research is to improve Student’s Reading Comperhension of

Narrative Text Through Small Group Discussion Technique. This method was
applied to make the student interested in learning English especially for practiced the
students to understand text and made the class more active and fun.

The method of this research is a classroom action research. This research

carried out the Second semester (march 2016 – June 2017) in the academic year of
2017/2018 at eighth grade of MTs Al-Juaeniyah with 24 students who had been
students as object of this research activity.

The result of this research shows that there is a significant improvement of

students’ Reading comprehension after they had explanation about small group
discussion technique. In cycle I, they got the average score of 69,79 In cycle II, they
got the average score of 75,70 after they did Reading learning activity using small
group discussion technique In cycle III, the students are more understand and do the
test using small group discussion technique and they got the average score of 81,6.

The writer can conclude that there is an increasing of the students’ Reading
comprehension of narrative text through small discussion techbique at eighth grade
of Mts.Al-Juaeniyah, Sukab umi..
