Preceptorship and
Observation Offerings
Continuing Education’s
International Preceptorship in General Dentistry,
Predoctoral
This program is designed for internationally trained dentists lacking a DMD or
DDS issued by a dental teaching institution in the United States. The objective
is for participants to become familiar with pre-doctoral clinical and didactic
education, as well as the group practice structure in the United States.
Throughout the month-long program, participants will:
• Attend didactic & hands-on seminars
• Observe in general dentistry & postdoctoral clinics pending schedule
• Work with a local food bank for volunteering opportunities
• Attend Treatment Planing seminars with false patient profile assignments
• Attend CAD/CAM hands-on demonstration
Schedule (subject to change)
• Full-time, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m, for a one month period
• Begins on the first Monday of each month in January, February, March, August,
September, October, and November
• 8 participants accepted each session

Postdoctoral Preceptorship Patient Treatment Center Observation Program
This program is designed for dentists interested in furthering their knowledge In this special program, individuals or small groups participate as observers
in postdoctoral dentistry. The objective is for participants to become familiar in the postdoctoral treatment centers at Boston University Henry M.

Postdoctoral Preceptorship in Pediatrics

• Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m, for a two month period
• Begins every July
• Runs one time each calendar year
Participants will follow the didactic schedule of the postdoctoral Pediatric
residents for four weeks: “Fundamentals of Pediatric Dentistry.” Participants
will spend four weeks observing the post-doctoral pediatric clinic at Boston
University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.
Postdoctoral Preceptorship in Prosthodontics
• Includes a typodont; however, participants must provide their own materials,
instruments, and handpieces
• Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m, for a two month period
• Begins every July
• Runs one time each calendar year
