SACHIN TELECOM LTD

The first organization which we visited is “SACHIN TELECOM LTD” its in Pillar. Here
we met Mr. Sachin Bora who is HR Manager of his own company. There we observed
the working of the entire company. Here we tried to study the organizational structure of
the company and also the functions and challenges faced by the Human Resource
Managers.

When we asked him about his organization structure, he stated that his organization is
formal organization. Since the reporting channels and work relation are pre-defined and
accountability and responsibility are fixed for all the roles. He also told us that in formal
organization there is a basic framework according to which the workflow. It’s a flat
organization structure. Since there is a wide span of control and few hierarchical levels,
there are 45 people under the control of one manager and the organizational level are
4.We also asked him that why only these structure the answer which we got is like this
“there is wider span of control, its less complex, more efficient, less communication
barrier, builds a strong and wide network of communication and there is a less gap
between the different management”. The advantage it has over the tall organization is that
in flat structure business respond faster. Mr. Bora also gave us information saying that its
not always that the organization need to follow the flat structure since it depends on the
organization how big it is and there are other factors also which should be taken into
consideration such as firm size, production demand, employee capabilities and
competitive forces.

When we asked him about his functions and the challenges faced by him the feedback
which we received were as follow.
FUNCTIONS:

1. Selecting the right person for a right job.


2. Deciding the recruitment procedure.
3. Employing the selected candidates.
4. Evaluating the candidates and fixing their salary and benefits.
5. Conducting follow up study and evaluating employee performance.
6. Establishing a good relation with his employee.
7. Training the employee.
8. Obtaining the feedback from his employee.
9. Giving incentives to the employee
10. Fringe benefits to the employee [benefit during employment and post employment
e.g. medical, welfare facilities etc.]
11. Being genuinely interested in the employee and his work life.
12. Bring in clarity in terms of the job responsibilities and tasks.

CHALLENGES:
1. Developing team building and leadership skill in employees.
2. Ensuring discipline among the employee.
3. Enhancing the quality of work life and personal life of the employees.
4. Technological changes.
5. Government policies.

The organization structure at Sachin Telecom Ltd is flat. They follow formal
organizational structure.

Hotel Green Park

The next organization which we visited was hotel GREEN PARK, guirim.
At Hotel Green Park, employees are recruited according to the seasonal demand. The
span of control is wide and the organization structure is flat. There is a job rotation done
according to the demand in each department.
