A few years ago, I took my daughters Georgia and Kristina on a field
trip to visit the Noah Webster Homestead in West Hartford, CT. This is
where I found a reprint of “A Dissertation on the Supposed Changed in the
Temperature of Winter”. I found this to be quite helpful for the presentations
I conducted on the subjects of global warning and media misinformation.
It was originally read at a meeting of the members of the Connecticut
Academy of Arts and Science in 1799, and published by the organization
in 1810. Noah Webster (1758-18430) is known as “The Father of American
Education and Scholarship,” but few today are aware of this gem.
There were many scientists in his day including Thomas Jefferson, who
believed in “global warming.” So, the concept is not new. However, those
who believed in a warming trend, unlike today’s well-paid scaremongers
and political opportunists, welcomed it. Camp Constitution is republishing
this obscure writing of Noah Webster to be used as a tool to help refute the
myths of man made global warming.
