MATH 5 PROBABLILTY AND STATISTICS Lecture 3 units
Course Description This course deals with deeper introduction of statistical concepts and applications needed in
business related courses. This course offers a discussion on the collection, presentation, analysis
and interpretation of information in order to yield meaningful information. It includes topics in
sampling procedures, descriptive and inferential statistics related to business applications.
Pre-requisite Math2A-College Algebra
The course aims to develop the student’s in depth knowledge on how to present, analyze,
interpret and collect data which leads to meaningful information especially in the field of
COURSE OUTCOMES Business and Economics.
At the end of the course, the students are expected to:

1. properly present and describe information

2. draw conclusion about large populations based only on information obtained from
samples.
3. improve processes like strategies how to improve sales or quality of a product or
improve services delivered by an organization
4. obtain reliable forecasts
5. recognized and appreciate the role in mathematics in the business world.
