Purpose:
To provide a support service to women upon release from prison within Dawn House that enables
and encourages mutually supportive relationships to maximise their independence and promotes
the sustainability of the unit.
To ensure that the environment is a safe and secure space for women to gain skills to move on
in their lives, manage their tenancy, gain work experience, manage their money and build
resilience and self-reliance.
1. Liaise with Dawn House service manager and caseworker to assist residents to achieve their
support plan goals by helping with life skills or other support needs.
2. Prepare rotas ensuring adequate cover at all times and oversee the bank staff.
3. Manage any behaviour which puts others at risk i.e resident returning under the influence of
substances.
4. To assist residents to manage any crises, emergencies and difficulties that may occur out of
hours. Be on call at night offering support to sleep in staff as necessary and be prepared to cover
sleep ins when required.

7. As part of a team assist in the preparation of accommodation for new residents, which may
involve some cleaning, cooking or shopping duties.
8. To be involved in the induction of new staff, to supervise and support volunteers, trainees and
students as and when required.
9. To follow all policies and procedures and not administer any medication and ensure the safety of
all residents and staff.
10. To take responsibility for safeguarding the welfare of residents at weekends in partnership with
the service manager.
11. Maintain records on Anawim database, log books and any other monitoring required & ensure
that these are kept up to date.
12. Communicate with police, probation and Dawn House caseworker & service manager any
breaches of curfew, unacceptable behaviour, incidents of self-harm etc.
13. To be responsible for your own and residents health and safety whilst at work and the health and
safety of any other employees or visitors.
14. The post holder must take responsibility for their own self development and ensure that the
knowledge and information they use in their job is current and relevant.
15. Ensure all information relating to services are accurate and up to date
16. Maintain accurate records of progress towards the achievement of agreed goals or service
17. Follow and promote all policies and procedures at all times.
18. Ensure that health and safety regulations are met and that fire regulations, risk assessment and
behaviour management procedures are adhered to at all times
19. Manage the alarms, fire equipment, fobs, tag machines etc ensuring they are always in working
order, calling out repair/ maintenance if necessary.
20. Liaise and communicate with other employees and external professionals appropriately to ensure
a coordinated approach to programme planning is in place.
