Revision: 2
Background/Description:
It has been observed that in certain applications, the 12/15 amp charger may overcharge
batteries, causing them to overheat, dry out, and eventually fail. This may be noted in
applications with a larger draw on the battery while in standby mode, such as a pre-lube
pump.
Corrective Actions:
New software has been implemented into the battery charger to prevent this condition.
The solution is to replace the old charger with a new charger containing software revision
1.27 or greater. These chargers are available through normal distribution channels.
The battery charger's version can be verified by checking the calibration in the display
section during power-up. However, the charger's version display lasts only for a quarter
of a second.
Before heading to the customer site, the charger needs to be powered up to verify the
correct calibration/software version.
Note: This issue is fix as fail. It is not necessary to replace the charger unless it is exhibiting
the symptoms described above.
