Korean dramas had began airing in the Philippines since 2003, starting with
GMA Network as the very first network to air Koreanovelas starting with Bright Girl;
followed by ABS-CBN as the competitor for airing Korean dramas; as well as TV5
and other Free TV networks which they also worked to broadcast Korean dramas
through Philippine television. Koreanovelas are being more popular to many Filipino
dramas airing in the Philippines are not focused on Taiwanese and Chinese dramas

programs in the Philippines on its 21st century, which had already aired more than

According to Temblor (2016), K-drama is known for its fresh storyline and
scenic cinematography, which was the stepping-stone of Hallyu, which means flow
K-drama had captured everyone specially the youth and middle-aged. The viewers
are attached to the story because the plot of K-drama are not the same old and very

In a more specific level, youth of today are undeniably more concerned with
foreign music,movies and television series. And when the word ‘addict’ is used to
describe the Filipinos youngsters, it really defines how they are very enthusiastic with
South Korean music and dramas. The youth spends a lot of time in watching their
idols online, stalking their social media accounts, attending events, purchasing
