Introduction
For some of us with a sweet tooth, a meal is incomplete if it does not end with a dessert. A Dessert is
expected to have a sweet taste which is inclusive of the dish like custard, ice cream, pastry, or any kind

of sweet dish. Most Filipinos love sweet foods. Sugar is everywhere in a Filipino cuisine not just in
desserts but also in savoury dishes. On special occasions, it is a must that there must be something
sweet on the table. Even when dining out on ordinary days, Filipinos usually eat sweet desserts after
their meal.

Custard is a mixture of milk or cream and egg yolk. Depending on how much egg or thickener is used,
custard may vary in consistency from a thin pouring sauce to a thick pastry cream used to fill pastries.
The most common custards are used as desserts or dessert sauces and typically include sugar and vanilla.
Leche Flan is a custard dessert and it is one of the popular desserts in the Philippines.

Background of the Study


The Philippines is not only known for its beautiful scenery and friendly people, it is also known for its
delicious food. No party or celebration is complete without these Filipino desserts. Filipinos are also
known for our sweet tooth. Especially on occasions like “Fiestas”, our “titas” would spend the whole day
preparing desserts in the kitchen.

Leche Flan is a dessert Filipinos love. Leche Flan is a very sweet and caramel like dessert. Lechan Flan is
mostly cooked in Christmas and without it your Christmas eve is not complete. But, you can also make it
at anytime of the year and sell it to other people. This will be a good source of income because it is a
popular food that people loves.

Statement of the Problem


This research proposal is conducted to determine the feasibility, availability and probability of the Leche
flan making business in Brgy. Don Manuel, Brgy. Dona Josefa, and Brgy. Dona Imelda. Specifically, to
answer the following questions.

1. What is the demographic profile of the consumer for the Leche Flan?
2. What is the level of acceptability of consumer for the Leche Flan?
3. How can our product be known to our target consumer?
4. What promotional strategy to be applied?
5. What is the acceptability of price for our product?

Significance of the Study


It is important to know the significance of the Feasibility Study. Feasibility study is the first stage of the
product or service development cycle. It is the process of defining exactly what a project is and what
strategic issues need to be considered to assess its feasibility, or likelihood of succeeding. The
proponents study aims for the growth of the business and to introduced Bea’s Special Flan in the market.
The study helped how to increase level of profitability. The study gives emphasis on the best strategy to
be used in order to excel among other competitors. It also determine the strength and weaknesses of
the business or even how to overcome those possible problems that may be encountered during the
operation process.

Scope and limitations


Bea’s Special Flan is restricted to Quezon City and will be based on management, financial, marketing,
technical, socioeconomic, and financial aspect of the business. Students and other individuals with
sweet tooth or have a craving for sweets will be covered as a part of the respondents. The product will
be disseminated through direct selling and orders are also accepted from customers within in Quezon
City.

Methodology

The proponent gathered information from a target population, using a survey that mainly used
in quantitative research. Conducted survey to different people that should probably help a lot in running
a business in a way of answering the survey forms and giving feedback. The proponents used Sloven’s
formula to determine the appropriate or estimate number of population .

2. Interview

The proponent conducted an interview with several people to explore their perspectives about
the business . They also interviewed the some establishments owners near the vicinity of Tanauan Public
Market with regards to rental fee.

3. Research

Information are being gathered through the use of reference books, magazines and also the
world’s largest and fastest access of information which is the INTERNET. Each proponent also shared
ideas that serves as an addition to help the business.

Sloven’s formula was being used by the proponents to determine the number of respondents
that should be included in the study.

interpret the different views of a group of people from a particular population. The survey questionnaire
has been used in the different field such as research, marketing, politics views, psychology, and so on.

People use survey questionnaire to gather information that is beneficial to a group of individuals. The
survey questionnaire uses statistical analysis to collect data, and the result of it will be used in the
development of an individual or to a community.

Definition of terms

Puto is a steamed rice cake popular in the Philippines. It has a spongy and slightly fluffy texture.

Leche flan

Steaming, a popular cooking method in this country along with boiling and roasting, was incorporated
into Filipino cuisine and cooking by other Asian countries.

Rice, the main ingredient in this dish, is an important staple for the Philippines.

Rice flour may be made from either white rice or brown rice. To make the flour, the husk of rice or
paddy is removed and raw rice is obtained. The raw rice is then ground to form rice powder, also known
as rice flour

Baking powder is a dry chemical raising agent used to increase the volume and lighten the texture of
baked goods such as muffins, cakes, scones and North American biscuits.

Sugar is an informal term for a class of edible crystalline carbohydrates, mainly sucrose , lactose, and
fructose characterized by a sweet flavour.

The Product

Filipino Leche flan is rich steamed custard topped with caramel syrup. This sweet dish doesn’t only
provide sugar rush to consumers but it has also nutrients that is good for our body. Since eggs are one of
the main ingredients, eggs have high quality protein. We will make sure that our Leche flan is worth
every peso spent and that it will satisfy every sweet tooth.

The Product

Leche flan is a popular Filipino dessert that Filipinos inherited from the Spaniards. It is usually served
during special events or occasions. This delicious and creamy dessert is normally made using a ‘llanera’,
a leche flan mold. The main ingredients include egg yolks, evaporated milk, and sweetened condensed
milk and it is also steamed.

Manufacturing Process

STEP 1: Using all the eggs, separate the yolk from the egg white (only egg yolks will be used).

STEP 2: Place the egg yolks in a big bowl then beat them using a fork or an egg beater

STEP 3: Add the condensed milk and mix thoroughly

STEP 4: Pour-in the fresh milk and Vanilla. Mix well

STEP 5: Put the mold on top of the stove and heat using low fire

STEP 6: Put-in the granulated sugar on the mold and mix thoroughly until the solid sugar turns into liquid
having a light brown color.

STEP 7: Spread the caramel evenly on the flat side of the mold

STEP 8: Wait for 5 minutes then pour the egg yolk and milk mixture on the mold

STEP 9: Cover the top of the mold using an Aluminum foil

STEP 10: Steam the mold with egg and milk mixture for 30 to 35 minutes.

STEP 11: After steaming, let the temperature cool down then refrigerate.

One of the goals of the business is to deliver food profitably and quickly but we will assure customers

Contribution to Income and Employment

The main goal of a certain business is to have a high income especially in the part of the owner.
The business should generate pleasantly relationship between the manager and employees to attain the
main goal of the business which is to have an income. And workers and employees in the business need
income to support their own needs and also for their services rendered in the business. Building up
business is a great opportunity for an employed people to have jobs. It will also be their opportunity of
having another source of income.

Tax Contribution

The business is expected to give a great contribution to the government in the form of taxes.
The tax payment from the business would help the localities as well as the economy in its future project
especially for people that will benefit. This would help the people to be more sprightly.

Based on the research and study that I conducted, I therefore concluded that my business is
feasible and viable in the market.

Recommendation

After bearing in mind the significant factors in the study that we conducted such factors like the
marketing, financial, technical, management, and socio-economic study. It is therefore recommended
that Bea’s Special Flan will be pursued and the business establishes at Brgy. Don Manuel, Quezon City.
