STEP-BY-STEP ACTION PLAN
Dear student, we want to help you prepare for IELTS speaking and get the desired band score without
sacrificing work and rest! Here is your step-by-step preparation plan and the links to download FREE
study materials. At any given moment, there are 170+ IELTS speaking topics that are asked in the
test all over the world. Although we have prepared all the materials for your IELTS speaking practice,
this will take some time. That’s why we recommend you to start from IELTS speaking. Don’t you
agree that it’s easier to start now and review 2 topics per day than start later and review 20 topics
per day? Here’s what you should do to prepare for your IELTS speaking test fast.

STEP 1: TIPS
Familiarise yourself with IELTS speaking test structure and tips. Get our FREE e-book with all IELTS
speaking tips. Click HERE to download the e-book.

STEP 2 : PRE-TEST
Do an IELTS speaking pre-test to find out what band score you can expect to get if you take the test
in the near future. Click HERE to download the test.

STEP 3: TEST DATE


Choose the best test date. Take into account the information about the change of topics, the dif-
ference between your target band and your pre-test results and deadlines that you may have. Please
visit https://www.ielts.org/ to find the most suitable test location and choose the best test date.

STEP 4: STUDY MATERIALS


• Download IELTS Speaking Assistant. If you have an Android device, download IELTS
Speaking Assistant on Google Play or click HERE If you have an IOS device (iPhone, iPad),
download IELTS Speaking Assistant on the AppStore or click HERE Remember to watch our
video guide on YouTube to find out how the app works.
• Test its demo content for free and subscribe to get access to all the current IELTS speaking
questions with vocabulary, lists of ideas and answers. You can buy the subscription
in the BUY section of the app. Alternatively, you can buy a subscription on our website
www.ielts-assistant.org

STEP 5: WORKLOAD
Determine your optimal workload. Based on your test date, identify the total number topics you
need to prepare. Based on the amount of time you can make for preparation each day, determine the
number of topics that you need to prepare each day. Keep in mind that, on average, it takes about 30
minutes to prepare 1 topic using ideas and model answers from the app.

STEP 6: PLANNING
Make a study plan. Use our free printable IELTS speaking progress charts for planning your prepa-
ration. Set a date for each topic and write it down in the corresponding box on the progress chart.
You’ll need set 2 and set 3 if you’re taking the test in May, June, July or August. You’ll need set 3 and
set 4 if you’re taking the test in September, October, November or December 2019. Click HERE to

STEP 7: PRACTICE
Start practising. Click HERE to download the instructions. Remember that you need to prepare
175+ speaking topics if you want to speak confidently in your speaking test.

STEP 8: PROGRESS
Use our free printable IELTS speaking progress charts to keep track of your progress. When you’re
done with the topic, take a highlighter and mark this topic on your progress chart. Thus, you’ll clearly
see how many topics you’ve already covered and how much work has to be done. This will help you
control your progress and be disciplined.

STEP 9: POST-TEST*
Do an IELTS speaking post-test to find out whether you’ve worked hard enough to improve your
speaking skills and whether you are ready for your speaking test. Click HERE to download the post-
