THESIS WRITING

PROPOSAL: AGRICULTURAL BUSINESS CENTER

NAME: JULES T. ALON

JUSTIFICATION:

I have chosen this thesis problem because of the fact that an Agricultural Business Center is
a mix of Agriculture & Business, this dualism of form of market that focuses on the economy of
a certain location while it deals on the production of food and services. It really caught my eye
because they balance each other in a way without production there’s no consumption, likewise
the other way around. With the right planning & design I attempt to obtain that interconnectivity
within that two aspects of the market. But unlike anything else this proposal seeks to exhibit
ecological awareness. Ecological awareness is a study between relationships of living organisms
and their natural environment that cause minimal impact on its ecosystem. In the same way that
an Agricultural Business Center that has a woven interdependence within their spaces, with
every space has a function, with every form there’s connection.

This proposal focuses on sustainable agricultural methods mainly on agroforestry. It seeks to

influence farmers & farm owners the advantages of this method, and intends to remove the old
systems of agriculture like the “kaingin system” the slashing and burning of trees. Instead
agroforestry provides increased biodiversity and reduced soil erosion among crops and
pasturelands. It also increases the crop yields of the narrow fields. It shows a way that with
proper agricultural methods there’s no need of slashing and burning of trees.
