The heart of a Shepherd . . .
experience as an LSS shepherd, what were my
shortcomings that I felt based on the outcomes on my
lamb(s)?; (2) what aspects of my shepherding skills do I
need to improve on?. After the group sharing, the
representatives of the groups reported on the summary
of their respective discussions with emphasis on their
suggestions for the resolution of vital concerns for the
discernment of the District Council of Stewards.
In the refresher course, the topic on Gifts and Fruits of
the Holy Spirit was reviewed and discussed. The main
concern is, understanding the power of Gifts of
Knowledge and Wisdom as spiritual aid for shepherding.
Pointers in facilitating shepherd-lamb discussion on
God’s love, sin and salvation, new life and receiving
God’s gift (the Holy Spirit) were taken up in lecture-
discussion and open forum. Baptism in the Holy Spirit
(specifically ways of ministering/praying over the lamb)
was given focus through sharing of observations and by
making agreement on issues that need common
understanding and proper approach. Growth and
Transformation in Christ is highly stressed as an
important phase of spiritual growth as this helps
determine the Lambs’ continued growth in Spirit and his
or her participation and contribution to daily community
life.

The Life in the Spirit Seminar
The Life in the Spirit Seminar is designed to help people.
find a new and fuller and better life as Christians by laying
or strengthening the foundation of a truly Christian life.
“No other foundation can anyone lay that that which is
laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1Cor 3:11). The seminars, then,
are concerned with the most basic part of Christian life:
establishing a person in Christ To accomplish that goal,
there are four things the Life in the Spirit Seminar tries to
do.
1. To help those who come to the Seminar establish or
reestablish or deepen a personal relationship with
Christ;
2. To help those who come to the seminars to yield to
the action of the Holy Spirit in their lives so they can
begin to experience his presence and can begin to
experience him working in them and through them;
3. To help those who come to the seminars to be joined
to Christ more fully by becoming part of a community
or a group of Christians with whom they can share
their Christian life and from whom they can receive
support in that life;
4. To help them begin to make use of effective means of
growth in their relationship with Christ.
In his discourse at the Last Supper, Jesus made a promise
to his disciples: “I will pray to the Father and he will give
you another Counselor, to be with you forever, even the
Spirit of Trust whom the world cannot receive because it
neither sees him nor knows him; you know him, for he
dwells with you and will be with you,.” (John 14: 1-17).
Jesus knew that when he was no longer on earth, his
disciples would not be able to live the kind of life hehad
called them to by their own strength and ability. He kew
that Christians would need a supernatural source of
strength, that they would need the strength and power of
God himself. So he promised his disciples the very Spirit
of God, and on Pentecost that Spirit came down upon
them, to remain with the Christian people forever. The
lives of the disciples were radically transformed by the
Holy Spirit: they were able to preach the Gospel of Jesus
in boldness and power, their words were accompanied by
signs and wonders, they drew together to live in new
communities, united in one mind and one heart.
Today, Christians of all denominations are rediscovering
the power that Jesus gives people through the Holy Spirit.
They are discovering the power to live together in love
and peace, to heal the sick and comfort the afflicted, and
to worship God with new and abundant praise. Above all,
they are discovering a deeper and more personal
relationship with Jesus Christ as their very own Lord and

Savior. The power of the Holy Spirit has
made such a vital and tangible change
in their lives that more and more people
can see that power at work and begin
to desire this new life for themselves.
Everywhere people are coming alive to find out more
about that life, they want to discover a new relationship
with Jesus.
The Life in the Spirit Seminar is designed as an
introduction to a life lived in the power of the Holy Spirit.
It provides an opportunity for people to find out more
about that life, and to be helped in taking the first steps
of a new relationship with the Lord. For those who are
not Christians at all, they can serve as an introduction to
Christianity and a time to make a first commitment to
Jesus Christ. For those who are already Christians, they
offer help in finding a fuller release of the Holy Spirit to
live a deeper Christian life. The seminars are a series of
talks and discussions which take place on a weekend
(Saturday and Sunday, live out) from 7 am to 5 or 6 pm.
On day 2 of the seminar participants are prayed with to
be baptized in the Holy Spirit. Six weeks after that time,
participants are guided and invited to receive further
empowerment by attending weekly prayer meeting and
within the weeks reflect further on the basic Christian
message of salvation and of what it means to be baptized
in the Spirit; and to further grow in the life of the spirit.
But more than the series of seminars, the Life in the Spirit
Seminar is a chance for Christians who have found a fuller
life in the Holy Spirit to come together with people who
want to know more about that life, to share with them,
and to help them take the first steps of a new life
themselves.
The Life in the Spirit Seminar is designed to be only the
beginning, only the first step in a completely new way of
life. For people to continue to grow and develop in this
new life, they need to come together with others who are
living this same way to receive support and further
teaching.

using small twigs from trees. The last topic
that was discussed was the common size of

“Recovering from Pain” (shared by Tess Salvo,

Recovering from pain or disappointment of any kind is not
something that just happens to some people and not to
others. It is a decision! You make a decision to let go and

fragments of your life and give them to Jesus, and He will
make sure that nothing is wasted (see John 6:12). You
refuse to think about what you have lost; instead, you
inventory what you have left and begin using it with a
thankful heart.
In Christ, not only can you recover, but you can also be
used to help other people recover. Be a living example of a
thankful person who always recovers from setbacks no
matter how difficult or frequent they are. Don’t ever say, “I
just cannot go on.” Instead, say, “I can do whatever I need
to do through Christ. I will never quit, because God is on
my side.”
Prayer of Thanks: Father, thank You that You bring
healing in my life and You can create beauty from
ashes. I pray that You will help me press on, refusing
to quit. I want to use my experiences to help others
find the same healing that I have found. Amen.
As we come to His throne to praise and worship, may we
Our Lady of experience the breakthrough of releasing whatever pain we

when we decide to be free from the pain that we can truly
recover and heal.

Prayer for the 2019 Year of the Youth
CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Youth
God our Father, we come together as Church, the Body of
Christ, and through Your Holy Spirit, we pray for our young
people in this Year of the Youth.
In Your great mercy, You sent Jesus, Your Son, who grew
up as a young man among the youth, became an example
for the youth, and consecrated the youth to You.
Hear our young people every time they proclaim:
A: We are BELOVED. B: We praise You for Your love for us,
which saves us and gives meaning to our lives.
A: We are GIFTED. B: We rejoice over the many gifts You give
us, enriching us and our communities.
A: We are EMPOWERED. B: We accept Your Spirit Who enables
us to share Your love and grace especially to other youth.
During this Year of the Youth, help the youth of our nation
encounter Christ who always looks at us with love as He did
with the rich young man, the disciples on the road to
Emmaus, and those who seek Your Kingdom.
Form us by Your Holy Spirit into credible guides for our
young people, like Mary Magdalene, witness and missionary
of the Resurrection, to be IN MISSION: joyfully proclaiming
Christ who died and rose again.
Nourish us and our young people through Your Word and
Eucharist, so we may always choose to be life-giving,
especially to the least, lost and last.
Together with our young people, may we follow the example
of our Mother Mary, whose YES to You, O God, gave way to
the fulfillment of Your Divine will.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.

REMINDERS FOR THE CWS WORSHIP TEAM (please see also page 17)
Worship brief must be submitted to the Praise ministry coordinator, CELSO/SUSAN
MALIGALIG at gilagilam@yahoo.com at least two (2) WEEKS BEFORE the praise practice
EVERY Tuesday, 7:00 pm @ MALIGALIG’s RESIDENCE, Maahas, Los Banos. Please use font
14 in your song lyrics.

Maximum number of PRAISE SONGS IS 7-8 WITH ONLY TWO (2) NEW SONGS as evaluated
by the Praise CCs. Musical notes (chords) of the new songs should be coordinated with
the Praise CC, otherwise the worship leader must provide. Thus, the submission of worship
brief two (2) weeks before worship date is a must.

Worship leaders, readers of the word, pray-over leaders and the rest of the worship team
should be at the venue at least 7:00 pm.
Anointing starts @ exactly 7:15 pm and the worship service starts promptly thereafter.

The worship team (worship leader, readers, teachers and praise ministry) as well as mass
sponsors during Eucharistic Celebration should observe proper dress code: White tops with
collar, and dark pants for men (not maong); white dress or white blouse and white skirt,
below the knee for ladies (no pants or colored skirt).

The Readers of the Word should be informed by the worship leader if the readings will
be done in Tagalog or in English, and should read in advance the assigned reading.

on praising and invoking on the power of the Holy Spirit. Please limit the number of songs
to three (3) only.

In case worship leaders, pray-over leaders and readers of the word and other assigned
members of the Worship Team will not be available on their scheduled date due to very
important matters, they should find replacement for themselves at least two weeks before
the date of worship, and should notify the LSM coordinator accordingly.
In case of unforeseen events that the Worship leaders are not available, the prayers
prepared for the worship and the song line-up shall be endorsed to the Praise Ministry
and/or to the cluster which he/she belongs for immediate replacement.

REMINDERS FOR THE WORSHIP TEAM
for the CWS during the LSS
Shepherding weeks
1. Prayer leaders during the LSS period from
Salubong on April 11 to the Post- shepherding
sessions on
May 9 &16 must include in their prayer the
theme of the shepherding topic.

Example:
April 11 - 2 topics must be included such as
“Gods Love” and “Salvation”
April 25 - 2 topics must be included such as “New Life” and “Receiving Gods Gift”
May 9 - Experiences on “Baptism of the Holy Spirit” and “Growth”
May 16 - “Transformation In Christ”

2. Please limit the number of songs to maximum of seven (7) to give more time for
shepherding sessions.

3. Please follow the sequence of prayers in the Prayers of the Faithful in Sambuhay for
Intercessory Prayers in our CWS, and in the prayers of the faithful (about 5-7)
during our Eucharistic Celebration.

Example:
- Church: Pope, (and Bishops, Parish Priests) and priority programs like Year of
the Youth
- Government: Leaders and current activities (election)
- BLD community and its activities
- Livelihood (pangkabuhayan), work and other concerns
- People suffering from physical, spiritual and emotional concerns
- Soul of the faithful departed

4. The prayer leader may invite guest singers, but they (guest singers), must join the
praise practice and must wear white tops during the CWS.
5. Worship Team and prayer leader must come early at 7:00pm. Pray-over starts at
7:15pm and worship service promptly starts thereafter at 7:30pm.
